I have hard water. How do I get my white clothes to not look so dingy.?
I have tried almost ever over the count thing there is out there. And most of them ruined an dyed colors there are on the shirts. I am about to go buy all new just so they turn white again?

20 mule team borax or Arm and Hammer washing soda in addition to your detergent

A water softener is the only option, and even then, might not work in the most extreme situations. There are some fixes, however, available on the internet. Start with Culligan.
Classically, people had cisterns to catch rain water for clothes washing. Some older homes still have these.

If you don't treat the hard water at the pump, then treat it in the washer...there are additives to the wash for iron removal...Try them with the whites.

Have you used the Oxyclean Detergent? It works well for me, but i don't think i have hard water.

Stop washing your clothes with ice cubes.

My mama used to use Blueing....I don't know if it is still around. You put in the rinse cycle.........if ya find it

try using a product called bluette.
