Difference between nose pins, and studs?

I recently had my nose pierced and have what is probably a nose pin. It is sort of L shaped with the longer end on the inside of my nose. When you buy them are they pre-bent or do you need some sort of tool. I forgot to ask and I don't live near the place I got it pierced.

Also, what is a nose stud? How do you put it in and is there anything that holds it in? From the pictures I've seen it looks like they are just straight and I can't figure out how they would stay in.

Thanks in advance!!!

If you are talking about a nose bone (straight with a little bulb on the end), avoid those at all costs. They can really damage your piercing and cause a lot of trauma. You can buy the nose pins pre-bent or have your piercer bend them for you.
