I would try to hook it up to an external monitor and see if it works normally. If it does, I'd guess the backlight is out, which is located at the bottom of the LCD panel. Not many repair shops know how to repair such a thing. Usually when the inverter goes out, you can still see a dim image.

http://www.screentekinc.com/ sales laptop screens and has removal instructions on their site as well. The manufacturer will over charge you for the screem, if you do need one and you're no longer under warranty.

    Good luck.

How old is the machine. If it is getting on abit, you may just have to manage with an external screen, because it will be too expensive to fix this outside the warranty.

If it is still in warranty, contact the supplier/manufacturer to get it fixed.

either the screen is dead, or the back light LCD is burnt out, the latter is a cheap easy fix, if it's the first and you are out of warrenty, just buy a new laptop

Check the power cable. Make sure it is connected.

It sounds like your laptop's backlight burned out. See your laptop manufacturer.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
