He really is in his own genre but i guess the closest two would be a combo of both modern folk and country. I mean how can u place a surfer/cowboy in any category?

Well he did start out on a rock radio station, but since he is so diverse in his music, the country stations or country fans loved him. I would say almost his own genre, but since he has been around for so many generations, would that be fair. I think I would say rocknroll.

I personally classify him as his own genre and that would be the "Jimmy genre"

I would consider him more pop........I really can't stand him myself but my sister-in-law and brother go to his concerts alot (parrot heads)......but they never had taste in music.
Good luck with your paper!
