Are low Tar and low Nicotine cigarettes less dangerous for health ?
Assuming a Marlboro Ultra Light contains 0.4mg Tar and 0.4mg Nicotine, while Merit1 contains 0.1mg each. It means smoking 4 merits is equal to 1 ultra light...does that means that lightest cigarettes ar less harmful ?
Assuming a Marlboro Ultra Light contains 0.4mg Tar and 0.4mg Nicotine, while Merit1 contains 0.1mg each. It means smoking 4 merits is equal to 1 ultra light...does that means that lightest cigarettes ar less harmful ?
So, does it factually means that rather than smoking 10 marlboro lights a day, if I smoke 10 merits, I am doing less harm to myself ?

This is what the cigarette companies would like everyone to believe. I do know that there have been recent court cases involving the families of deceased smokers who have brought cases against the tobacco industry because their loved one choose to smoke the "light' cigarette.
Putting chemicals into your body is harmful, putting "less" may seem "less" harmful, but it is an illusion. People are still addicted and still ruining their health, and still dying. I know people who have health problems caused by second hand smoke, and they never smoked one cigarette in their lives.
When someone becomes addicted to cigarettes, it will not matter what levels of any certain content is, the companies will replace the lower tar and nicotine with something else that will keep the person smoking.
I am truly blessed that I choose not to smoke, both for health and the health of my wallet. I have actually been in checkout lines in stores and watched people put food items and medication back in order to purchase cigarettes. Pretty sad and frightening to me. I hope that you are not a smoker, low tar and nicotine or not. Have a good day.

If you can answer the question whether tar and nicotine are the only killers in cigarettes, then you could say that they are less harmful. What about those that get cancer from breathing second hand smoke? Does it make a difference whether it was smoke from a low tar cigarette?

The day you pick up your first cigarette is the day you can never go back. It doesnt matter how much nicotine there is in it, All cigarettes are ADDICTIVE!! Seriously, think one or two wont make you a full blown smoker, think again. I know so many of my friends who started off as social smokers, even myself, and now guess what..we smoke all the time. Its addictive no matter which way you look at it.

less adictive not harmful. smoking is bad no matter what way you smoke lights ultra light or red. the light in the cigarette means it has less stuff that will make you addictive. your still hurting your lungs no matter what you smoke.

No, because smokers NEVER sop at one cigarette. They make it up in the amount they smoke.
