Any ideas what is going on with me ? I seem to be forgetting a lot of the everyday things...............?

That are going on in my life . I'm not that old . I'm 52 and granted I do take quite

a few different drugs , I have a lot of medical problems . Heart disease , high blood pressure , a serious back injury , and depression .

It is happening all of the time and my husband & Mom are getting on my case .

It scares the you know what out of me . It seems to only be the short term things that I forget . Oh yes I am also a recovering Alcoholic 5 yrs. sober . I drank heavy for most of my life .

I do have a shrink for my depression i'll see him in a month .

Any Ideas ?

Here are some things that can cause memory problems: sensory overload (we are inundated with too much information and our brains aren't wired for it), some medications, normal aging memory loss, depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar, anxiety about the ability to remember and people getting on your case, too much to do/remember. Seeing the psychiatrist and getting on an antidepressant that works for you will help. If you are really worried see a neurologist for a memory test. One thing that will help is yoga and meditation. These help to center yourself and slow down your thoughts and find an inner peaceful place. Then energy and thought flow is effortless. Good luck.

Ease up from any pain meds if you can..Also, try swimming, stationary bike or Physical therapy. Improved blood circulation will increase oxygen to the brain. Thus, improving memory. Eat a well balanced diet. Take vitamins. Listen to relaxing music and a nice warm bubble bath at night. Get a good nights sleep. :-)

I forget words, spelling errors have grown. I have high blood pressure. When I take the medicine I am better. I am getting older. Stay away from benzos.

    I hope it helps.

I am sorry you have back pain, I have only had thaqt once, I fainteed and fell into glass shower doors when I had the flu, broke my tailbone. Wished I had a fat butt for about three months.

I just stopped taking Zoloft because of memory loss and I am only 36. Might want to check your meds.

I don't want to bum you out, but my Dad just died at age 59 of early onset Alzheimer's. Do you have a family history of dementia? There are several new drugs to prolong quality of life for early diagnosed Alzheimer's.

But, from what you said, I would first check the side effects of all your presciptions! : )

Any kind of depression/stress can cause you to be forgetful. Try to have three portions of oily fish per week e.g. tuna or salmon. Alternatively, take omega3 or cod liver oil capsules. Also, keep your brain active by doing crosswords, sudoki, etc every day.

My doctor told me menopause can cause that, and if so it's temporary. Now where did I put my keys?!?!

based on what you describe, you really can't rule out good ol' fashion brain damage.
