I prefer the simpler SP--it's cheaper, there's more games, and there's no stylus to lose. Also, due to it's construction, it's more durable and easier to fit in a pocket or bag.

The DS does have games of the Nintendo 64 sort, but the input screen is a pain in the butt to work with (and I've owned Palm Pilots for years, so I know my way around a stylus and screen interface). Most of the in-play controls are the standard ones from past versions of the Gameboy, so it really feels like the dual screen design is just a gimmick that distracts from actual gameplay.

But really, since you'll be the one using it, it's your opinion that counts, so drop by the electronics store or Walmart and try them out. There should be demo ones running in the game section. I did the same thing when I had to pick (I even borrowed my friends' ones too, so that I could really get a feel for things.) But since you'll be taking this nearly everywhere, you want to make sure it fits you and your game playing style. No offense to the previous answers, but it sounds like they've never played with both or thought about the actual gameplay qualities (which is really what its all about, right?) Try both in your hands--that's the only way to pick on this sort of thing.

    Good luck!

I'd go with the DS. The touch screen adds a lot to the games and it's compatible with Game Boy advance games anyway. Plus they have WiFi so if you've know someone with another DS you can, at the very least, use the Pictochat that comes with it. I also think that since it's the newest system, Nintendo will keep making games for it longer than it will for the Game Boy Advance. I'd go with the DS Lite since it seems to be a big improvement over the DS.

I would go with the DS because of the touch screen. I might be wrong, but I believe the DS can play all GBA games, so you're getting 2 handhelds.

The DS all the way. I mean come on now, you can play GBA games on the DS anyway so what is holding you back. The games are just so much fun it is well worth every penny.

With Christmas coming up, I asked my son which is better....psp or ds? He played with his advance for almost 3 years and now I think he's ready for another. He chose ds because they offer better games and more games. You know what...it's cheaper than psp. Walmart.com offers an online only special for ds. Check it out.
