  • What is up with all the violations?

I've been reported twice this week. I've had more violations in a week than I'd normally have in a year. The second violation was for responding to a movie quote with another reference from the same movie. It's getting to the point where I'm afraid to answer questions because everyone is getting so touchy lately. If people are going to report other people for every little thing then how is Y!A going to work?

  • Cleaning up after the dog?

I am fuming right now but I want to see how others feel about this. I was walking my dog, like I do every day when one of my neighbors made a snide comment about how he didn't appreciate the neighbors letting their dogs pee (he used a cruder word) all over his mailbox. My dog is a chihuahua mix and we were halfway through his walk so you can imagine the VAST quantity of pee he left. If it was no more than about three drops if any. I also always clean up any other "messes" my dog makes and never leave dog poo on anyone's lawn. So is it really so rude of me to let my dog mark his territory on mailboxes or am I supposed to walk him carrying a roll of paper towels and a garbage bag so I can clean up every drop of dog pee? The mailboxes are plastic so it's not like it's going to rust or anything. I'm not even the only person who walks their dog in this neighborhood but I am one of the few who cleans up after their pet. So who's the jerk here?

  • Mother-in-law strikes again...?

So yesterday was my 15th wedding anniversary. My M-I-L sent us an online Valentine's Day card addressed to my husband and his brother's wife. Today she sent one to my son but signed it that she hoped my husband would receive lots of kisses today. So on a scale of 1 to 10 how ticked off should I be? Should I say something or just address her Mother's Day with my husband's step-mother's name instead of hers?

And yes...she did forget our anniversary, again.

  • Is it just me or are some people on this site a little too sensitive?

I got an e-mail today notifying me that I had violated Y!A guidelines. I answered a question yesterday where nearly every single word was spelled wrong with "When did they stop teaching spelling in school?" and was reported for insulting the questioner. If people are going to post silly questions here and then spell every word wrong (even 4 and 5 letter words) even though English is clearly their first language, then aren't they asking for someone to make a comment on it? Was my response really that offensive or are people getting a little too touchy?

  • Worst Rock and Roll movie ever?

I got Kissology Vol. 2 for Christmas which has Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park (or Kiss and the Attack of the Phantom according to the DVD) on it and it's really awful. Magical Mystery Tour and the movie Head (with the Monkees) are also pretty dreadful. So I'm taking a poll. What's the worst rock and roll movie ever made? Please explain why if you can.

  • Target and Super Mario Galaxy?

I pre-ordered Super Mario Galaxy for my son from Target.com and they sent me an e-mail today informing me that they won't ship the game until December 18. I ordered it almost a month ago and I am wondering if anyone else had the same problem with Target.com.

Why in the heck would I pre-order a game if I wanted to wait for more than a month past the release date to get it? I was going to order a Wii points card as a gift from my brother-in-law from them and they wanted $24.99 for a $20 card. What the heck is up with Target.com lately? I really like their stores but I've had nothing but problems with their web site. Sorry this is a bit of a rant but I'm annoyed. What is a good online retailer for video games?

  • Christmas decorations, themed or not?

When you decorate your house for Christmas do you have it themed by color and style or is it just a hodgepodge off stuff you've collected through the years?

  • House breaking a rescue dog?

We recently adopted a rescue dog. (terrier chihuahua mix) What we wanted was one over a year old and house broken. Well, the dog we got is 10 months and only sort of house broken. (Yes, partly our fault for adopting him anyway.) He goes outside but only because we take him out constantly. When we take the dog outside he seems like he's going to go to the bathroom but then he gets distracted and picks up every leaf or stick he finds. We literally have to take him out for at least 30 minutes every time and most of the time he doesn't go. We got a training video and tried all the tips, keeping him on a leash, saying "go potty" and "hurry up" and restricting him to a small section of the yard and none of them work. We also take him out all the times he supposedly needs to go and he doesn't go then. He gets too distracted. He's only had one accident but it's frustrating to be constantly taking him outside. He starts obedience school in two weeks. Anything we can do until then?

  • I hate my neighbors!?

We bought our first house in a nice new housing edition. We plan on living in it about 5 years and then selling it. We have the following issues with our neighbors...

They have 4 dogs chained up in their backyard that they do nothing with. They never clean up after them and they bark constantly. The 5th dog lives in the house and they let it crap and pee all over our front lawn.

They have 6 cars, 4 are junkers. One has no muffler and they drive it around or rev it constantly. They do major body work in their garage. One car is parked in the back yard.

They rarely mow their lawn. They have an old mower they took the muffler off that is very loud. They park it on their front lawn.

They also drive with their 6 month old baby in their laps. They drive way too fast in the neighborhood and frequently drive or park in our ditch so it's rutted out and grass won't grow in it. They're making the street look like a dump and they drive us crazy with all their noise. What can we do?

  • What's a good non-fading hair dye to use at home?

I had highlights in my hair and got sick of them. I tried dying my hair back to it's natural color (light brown) about 6 weeks ago. I used L'Oreal Natural Match and it faded really badly and now my hair looks like it did before I dyed it only brassier. Is there a good hair dye I can use at home that won't fade or fry my hair and will still cover a couple of gray hairs?

  • Where do you find pants for a tall thin teen-aged boy?

My son is nearly 14 years old. He also happens to be 6' 1" and only weighs around 135 lb. I need to find him pants for school but he needs like a 29" or 30" waist and at least a 33" inseam in pants. He also doesn't like jeans. I've tried just about every store (including all the teen ones like American Eagle and Abercrombie & Fitch) and none of them seem to carry pants in that size range. Most 30" waist pants only come up to a 32" inseam which is too short on him. Does anyone know of some place (so far all I've found is L.L. Bean which isn't particularly "cool" for a 14 year old) that sells non-denim pants, with a 30" waist and a 33" or 34" inseam for $40 or less?

  • Weird ear discharge?

I was at the beach last week and went swimming in the ocean. I ended up with an ear full of salt water that wouldn't drain. After a day I tried a Q-tip hoping it would loosen up the water. (Yes, I know this is not a good thing to do.) Anyway, when I pulled the Q-tip out the water hadn't drained but I had bright pink (almost flourescent) colored ear wax. (At least I am assuming it was ear wax.) I got some ear drops to loosen the wax, which also finally dislodged the ocean water and more bits of pink ear wax came out. I used the drops for a few more days and my ear is back to normal. At first I thought I had a bad case of swimmer's ear and maybe the stuff on the Q-tip was blood but it was way too pink to be that. I had a some mild pain in my ear, but no hearing loss, before the salt water finally drained. Now I am just wondering if it was ear wax and what caused it to turn bright pink. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this?

  • What can we do about our neighbor's neglected dogs?

We bought a house in a new housing edition last summer. When we moved in it appeared our neighbor had one dog. Slowly, more appeared. Now they've got 4 dogs chained up outside and one that lives in their house. (along with 2 cats) The indoor dog seems to be well cared for but the four outside are all large dogs, on maybe 20' of chain each. They have no shelter and usually don't have any water to drink. They don't seem to get any vet care and all seem to have a bad case of worms and fleas. The owners never do anything with them except feed them. The yard now has no grass and is full of dog feces and flies. One of the dogs is a rescued pit bull mix who was raised to be a fighting dog and is vicious and has escaped several times. All four dogs are lonely and bored and do nothing all day but bark and fight with each other. We've called Animal Control several times but they say that since we don't live in city limits they can't do anything. What can we do aside from a fence?

  • Is there any way to get a Nintendo Wii without camping outside a store for a week?

My son has been saving allowance and birthday money to buy the new Nintendo system since they announced they were making it over a year ago. He's been looking forward to getting it for months. I've tried pre-ordering it and no store has it for preorder. The nearest Toys 'R' Us to us (about 40 minutes away) did a preorder on Sunday and only got 15 units in which sold out in minutes. My brother-in-law called a local Wal-Mart and they said they expect to get 4 or 5 units in when it launches and that people are already lining up for it. We've about given up on my son being able to get one before Christmas. Is there any way to get one short of paying someone twice what it's worth (which is impossible since my son is buying it and is only a 13 year old kid) or camping out in front of Wal-Mart for a week? Is anyone else as disgusted as I am that the companies deliberately put out only a few items so they create a frenzy like this?
