What is up with all the violations?

I've been reported twice this week. I've had more violations in a week than I'd normally have in a year. The second violation was for responding to a movie quote with another reference from the same movie. It's getting to the point where I'm afraid to answer questions because everyone is getting so touchy lately. If people are going to report other people for every little thing then how is Y!A going to work?

It does seem to be the case, especially in some categories, that people are getting reported more to eliminate opposing opinions than because of actual rule violations, which is disgraceful.

On the other hand, a lot of people here don't seem to have read the rules for this site. A lot of questions about violations show up in this section and at least half of them are for things Yahoo! specifically prohibits, like 'am I pretty?' and 'what is your favorite color?'.

The best suggestion is to objectively review the rules a question is supposed to have broken. If there IS a problem, learn from it for the future. If not, appeal (and appeal again if the first one is denied). One user who frequently posts in this section has successfully appealed all 6 of the violations he has received, so there is hope. If you need more advice, post details here and someone will be able to help. Good luck.

Well, Yahoo answers is basically trying to keep everyone safe and smart(I guess that's the way that I should put it). If they don't like what they read or see(as in the users),they will report random ppl and questions out. If they think it's a violation or a problem, they will take the question off or suspend someone's account on this part. I mean that Yahoo answers shouldn't be allowed to suspend the whole entire account(e-mail,music,etc). If you don't like what's going on,in my opinion, I wouldn't deal with Yahoo answers and just go somewhere else that the ppl will be nicer to others and the points would be worth something. On here, they're just worth getting you up to another level or asking more random questions or questions that does need to be answered(like something impt. comes up).

  • You are getting to many points and thats not okay with Yahoo. Soon they will suspend your account and not even tell you what it is for.
