Just got passed over for a promotion at work, how should I get revenge on the world?

You have every right in the world to vent and to feel passed over; however, if five people have quit due to the actions (or inactions) of the boss it may be in your best interest to follow suit. Perhaps not getting this promotion is a blessing in itself that you cannot see right now because of your frustration and anger. Don't let it get to you. Perhaps a conversation with the boss might be your best release... let him hear why you're upset and maybe he can explain the reasons to you. Don't put anything in writing but rather a casual conversation with an approach of "I am really hurt that I didn't get the promotion and want to know if there's something that I can do to qualify. I really enjoy working for you and with you. What's next in your plans for me and how can I get there?" Take that information and work with it however don't lose sight that maybe there's another job in your future if you open your mind to it. Relax. The laws of nature sometimes don't put us in situations we were not meant to have. If you like what you are doing now, do it and do it well. Your opportunity is out there but it's a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

In all honesty, I am preparing to go through this myself. As I type I am awaiting a phone call from the director of my company. My current boss accepted another position in the company leaving her position open. I was told by other employees that I have the job, may have to interview with one other person just to cover the bases, but I had the promotion. Now I hear that they are bringing in 2 others to interview and I am starting to lose my confidence.

I myself am planning my own form of revenge just in case i get screwed over here.

But in all reality, you and I wlil do the same thing. We will ***** and moan about it for a week or two, slack off a bit and not be anywhere near as courteous to our coworkers as we used to. Then put our resume on Monster and try to find a position that is better suited to us.

Just look out for a new job and let the boss know that u are quitting the company becos of his sheer insensitiveness.Just take life as it is cos revenge and anger within only causes stress which will again harm u and will not make any difference to your boss. Stay cool and Act wise.

tell your boss how you feel.

It could be that he just needs a little boost to notice you more...give him the opportunity by YOU letting him know why you deserve the promotion.

Don't make it an argument, go in nice and calm and talk to him.

Sometimes punching a pillow helps to vent out frustration as well.

The best revenge would be to leave and get a different job.

That has happened to me too. The complete incompetence of a so called 'higher up' slowing you down. That's why I'm self employed now.

Start interviewing at better companies or subtly act as if you are considering it, without being petty or nasty about it.

Send out your resume to other companies that need good employees.

If you believe that your work is THAT good, find another job and leave your boss to his own devices.

He will recognize your worth when it is too late -- when you are working for another organization.
