Laundry question: load of white towels ruined by blue dye that ran from 2 cheap placemats. Solution?

I didn't know the blue placemats were in the load. Now all the towels are splotched blue and white.

How do I get the blue dye out without setting it? Or did it already set when it went through the dryer on high heat?

The towels are white (or were), so I don't have to worry about their color running.

    Cheap White Towels

Chances are the dye was set when the towels went through the dryer. Those towels are blue swirly white now. Just think...no one else has towels like that. I would go whole hog and buy things that will compliment the towels instead of trying to bleach them. The amount of bleach you would need to change the color back to white would destroy the towel.

Learn to love the blue swirly white or buy new towels. Don't worry. It happens to everyone.

It may be too late if they went in the dryer. Try re-washing w/ about 2 cups bleach added to the water, I would even let them soak for about 1/2 hour before running the cycle. The bleach will not yellow your towels if there is a good ratio of water/bleach. Try it!! Good Luck!!

If the towels didn't stay in the dryer long, you might have a chance. Try washing them again but use some bleach with it.

you've set it but because there white anyway go ahead and try washing them with bleach in the future dont dry stained clothes, i have found that if you rub ammonia on a stain before washing it removes it without harming colored clothes their is also a product called "awesome" you can get it at the dollar tree store it works great. pricey things like oxyclean, etc don't work and cost more.

Try washing the towels in hot water & bleach.

If you already put them through the dryer, then you might be stuck with blue and white towles. But it wouldn't hurt to bleach them. Just don't use too much - bleach will yellow your whites.

Try an Blueing product. You will find this near the bleach in the supermarket.
