How do I create a scent for a homemade candle?

I make candles and buy scent from a hobby store. I use three times the amount of scent that the directions indicate and my candles still don't smell.

I want to find out how to make my own scent (not mine, I stink... but maybe my wifes, or roses, or something nice). The scent has to come from somewhere, right? How can I make my candles smell nice without just buying a block of scented wax?

My wife has made candles for years. Much of your scent throw depends on your oil quality, and melt pool. She went through many different places for oil before finding that certain places to get better quality oils. One of the best places she found was www.cajuncandle.com.

if your using more than 1.5oz of oil per pound of wax...might want to find better oil.

one other thing to consider is something known as 'candle nose' this is where you've poured so much you almost start to become numb to the scents....let someone else judge your candles power =)

    hope this helps

Whenever my wife and i made candles we'd use 1oz of oil to a pound of pre-blended wax (cause we lazy like that) oil quality is a big deal with this many many places say it's "pure oil" but many times it's cut with hohoboa oil...still an oil, and still can call the mix pure oil....essence oil is no diffrent the actual pure oil just costs a lot more seen some for 40+ per ounce....madness....we to have gotten many oils from cajun candles....good stuff they got....the jasmine, honneysuckle, and cinnamon will put ya right outa the room they so strong at 1oz per pound no joke.

we use IGI 4786 wax...mostly Cajuns oils....and double wicked Tureen style jars (20oz) for a nice big melt pool.

    good luck =)

Wax Candle color Candle fragrance Wick double boiler First practice any bins you propose to apply as holders through cleansing and drying them. Then reduce somewhat of wick (you may get them already reduce or in rolls) you should depart adequate to tie the great round a pencil or some thing else you may take a seat in the course of the great to keep the wick from falling down contained in the candle once you pour the wax into the candle holder. you want wax, aka parafin. you also want a double boiler you do not concepts messing up, it can't be used for nutrients back when you make the most of it for making candles. in case you want an inexpensive thanks to make one, because they are oftentimes severe priced, you should use a metallic espresso can through punching a hollow 2 oppistie aspects and utilizing a metallic hanger to make handles through the holes. Use essential oils in your candles. I buy mine from local Metaphysical stores or online. Oils that are more pure are best & don't leave residue behind after the candle burns.
