I'm taking a trip to Phoenix in August and will be there 9 days. Aside from a trip up to see the Grand Canyon, what should I do? Any places I absolutely have to eat?

I grew up near an Indian reservation and have family in Oklahoma, so, while I'd like to see cliff dwellings and cave paintings, the touristy Indian stuff holds very little appeal.

I have an almost 2 year old tattoo on my ankle. I had no reactions to the ink when I got it or my other tat, same artist, same shop, same color (black). For the past few months when my seasonal allergies are bad (sneezing, stuffy nose, etc) my ankle tattoo gets itchy and swollen. Do any pros know of any correlation between seasonal allergies and tattoos (although the tattoo on my shoulder is fine)? Or is it some kind of (long) delayed allergy to the ink, if such a thing is possible?

It seems like it's mostly on the back and sides of her back half, none on her head and shoulders. She has long hair, I brush her daily. She eats expensive cat food that everyone says will help her coat and eats soft food 2 or 3 times a week (the cheap stuff, she doesn't like the expensive wet food). She hates being sprayed with anything, but I'll do it if I have to. What can I possibly do?

I was listening to a story on NPR about a solider who returned with serious brain injuries and they mentioned that his family is one of very few who have a special photo of the solider that is only given to the families if the solider is killed. I'm curious about this photo. When is it taken, what makes it so special (aside from the obvious that it's given on the death of the solider), what becomes of this photo when the solider leaves the military, is it only taken if they are going into combat?

The Jewish populations of only 3 European countries survived the war intact, including Bulgaria's. This is despite Bulgaria being an Axis power. I know that when Hitler restored Bulgarian land lost during WW1, the czar (Boris III?) caved to demands that he deport the Jewish populations there. When the Nazis demanded the deportation of Bulgarian Jews the czar signed the papers but recinded partly due to a Christian mystic (maybe) and partly due to the fact that the deportation was highly unpopular. My question is: why, when almost every other country in Europe deported their Jews (sometimes happily), was it such an unpopular decision in Bulgaria?

A while ago I bought a litter that completely dried everything out. It was amazing! Unfortunately, I threw the box away thinking I would remember, but I don't! I probably bought it at Petsmart or Petco, does anyone have any reccomendations?

I bought some fresh green beans at the farmers market and have never cooked green beans before. I tried blanching, which works great for asperagus, not so much with the green beans. I don't want anything drenched in butter, just something good and healthy.

A good friend of mine is having her first baby in a few weeks. She's the first of any of our friends to have a baby, although a few more will have babies around Thanksgiving/Christmas (I guess the was something in the water...), so I have never had to buy a baby gift. What is something you got that was great or something that you didn't get but wish you had?
