I need some advise...?

I've been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndome. If you suffer from this condition, please offer some advise on getting better. Also if you've had surgery give me some feedback... Thanks a lot !

Update:

I am already wearing the braces at night in both hands... and Im having a study done on Thursday to see which one is the nerve with the problem... so I dont have a lot of details.

I've had it off and on over the years depending on the work or sport I was participating in at the time. Mine always got better when I stopped the activity. I'd advise you to use a brace you can buy over the counter. You can have surgery; and I can assure you it will recur shortly thereafter. It's just one of those things that comes back. If you can treat it with bracing and anti inflammatories, you'll be a heck of a lot better off. Godloveya.

    Hello

I was diagnosed with carpel tunnel about 3 months ago. I had to ware the braces for about 1 1/2 month and my doctor also put me on neurontin which is used for nerve pain. He also advised me to ware them during the day as much as I could. The pain gradually went away and I am fine now. Very few people actually need surgery the braces and resting the hands usually take care of the problem and the good news is it hardly ever reoccurs. Good luck.

Depends on whether the carpal tunnel is shrinking due to scar tissue and calcification which compresses the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel or whether it's due to inflammation in that area creating pressure on the nerve. If it's shrinking, surgery may be the only treatment, but if it due to inflammation and irritation go see a massage therapist. I've treated several people with carpal tunnel and had very good results.

This is a very common procedure done under local or regional anaesthetic and very rarely has any complications. If you go to http://www.patient.co.uk,/ and type in carpal tunnel and it'll give you plenty of reliable info as well as other people's experiences. Hope it helps. All the best, and don't worry!

You can wear braces at night to help with the pain you get at night, which can be very painful. I have it, but it comes and goes. You can have surgery, but the smaller surgery is not as good as the bigger one, I have heard. I mean incision, so check with your doctor. I think it would be called laproscopic, for the smaller incision. My sister had it, and she got a staph infection from it, and now she is numb in some of her fingers. My pain is now not enough to justify surgery, but you can buy the wrist braces for carpel tunnel at the drug store. You want to get them for both wrists, if you have it in both.

I had cubicle tunnel surgery on the elbow. Did not help a bit. Predisone 10mg. a day,Lodeine 500mg twice a day, tramadol 50mg. eight times a day, and Tyenol1000mg. four times a day, keeps me working. But hey I'll be dead from the drugs sooner.
