Got caught doing 115 kph in a 90 kph speed trap on the Hua Hin - Cha am bypass. Told the cop the car belonged to my friend who works for NCCC ( Deals with Corruption in the Thai Government) was on my way in 15 seconds. Corruption is a part of life in Thailand Thaskin didn't invent it. The whold damn country is corrupt. My friend has good job security.

I drive regularly and have not had any problem for 1 year until just before Loi Kratong - a very friendly policeman took my license and was going to make me go to the police station etc... We bantered back and forth and joked and bargained but he wanted 1000 baht... As an after thought, but before I paid, I asked what I had done wrong.. he said I was speeding, - when I looked at him in astonishment, he said - not real fast - just a little fast.. [ I was at a toll booth and had not hit the accelerator yet!! ] - I paid - he had a gun, I didn't.

Nope, drove across many places only and only ticketed for speeding at 120 in 100kph zone. Anyway the max speed limit is 100kph on some highways, so have to watch the speed limit signs.

Happened several times when I was in a taxi or even on a motorcycle taxi. The police here are corrupt beyond words.

In cases like that you've got to call the Tourist Police. Can't give you the tel. no. since it depends where you stay/drive in Thailand.
