Insulin production?
I'll explain the situation, I eat lots of chocolate supposedly, however I've been warned by those I work with that I'll get diabeties very soon. I was wondering how the body produces Insulin as well as wondering whether this can be increased/decreased by the body naturally in accordance to your diet and other external factors like excerise.
Yes I have googled this etc, not seeming to get any ideas though can someone explain this to me?
Thanks

The body produces insulin in the pancreas. Its made in the area called the *isle of langerhans*
The pancreas secretes insulin in response to carbohydrates/sugar eaten. The more you eat, the more the pancreas works, the more insulin is secreted.
Some people can have horrible diets of massive carbs and they never develop diabetes, some people it doesnt take long. Diabetes is simply your pancreas giving out after its been overused for so long. At least the type of diabetes you are asking about.
There are several types of diabetes.
Yes, your body can naturally decrease its own insulin production by diet alone. Its simple. Watch your carb intake. Make sure its within reason and not overdone. Those carbs you do eat should be in the form of veggies, some fruits, 100% whole sprouted wheat.
Stay away from noodles, white sugar, cake, ice cream, white breads of any kind all white flour products.

insulin is produced in the pancreas in response to body regulatory mechanisms. In type I diabetes an automimmune reaction destroys those cells, nothing to do with what you eat or dont. In type II the bodys other cells become increasingly resistant to the effects of insulin, this can be contributed to by long overeating, overweight etc. Proper diet and exercise wil improve the way the body handles glucose with insulin.

The previous 2 anserers have given you good answers about the production of insulin.
BUT...just eating lots of chocolate will not make you diabetic, its an old wives tale. Being overweight is much more likely to be a cause and of course too much chocolate will contribute to a weight problem in the long run!
