How do you get rid of hard water stains that are appearing in the laundry? No problems with dishes though..?

This is the second home I've had in the same town, two different washing machines and it seems every time we wash clothes we are getting "stains" - it is ruining a lot of clothing. I don't seem to be having problems in the shower, or with dishes. I've used different laundry detergents - but it soesn't seem to work. If you catch the stains before you put the clothes in the dryer then sometimes you can lighten them with Shout or something similar...Help - please...

CLR is a great stain remover on anything. Pour some CLR on your machine then run your mahine (small wash is fine). That'll get rid of the stain sitting in the machine.

Another thing to check...although you dont see it is your shower. If you notice crusting aournd the shower head before you clean it, then you definitely have a hard water problem in your neighborhood. You can get a tester from the hardware store to see how hard your water is. If you want to invest in a water softener, you can check your hardware and see about getting one installed. Not only would it be good for your sinks and machines, but it'll be good for you too (skin will be less itcy and dry).

The address below is the CLR from Amazon.com
