What's the best way to combat distructive OCD?

OCD is taking me over. When I start a project and it dosent come out right, I trash it instead of trying to fix it. Nothing I do seems good enough for me, even if someone else thinks its fine. I move my furniture alot, and can never get it right, and if I leave the house without unplugging my oven, im afraid it will burn down. Please help.

tell yourself to pull away for five minutes to take a break and than to back to your compulsive behavior. or, if you're wise, you will realize in those five minutes, that the compulsions are silly because you had some momentary relief for once, knowing that it was okay to postpone the compulsion since you will go back to it anyway. well, you should just postpone it for hours, if that is the situation. do that regularly and it will stay of your mind. you will still have ocd, and compulsions throughout the day, but less severe and less frequent. its a major way to relieve it. it'll bring your life atleast to normal.

Try some medication, I have OCD,s and it can take over our emotions for everyday. I am on effexor and i am not vaccuming my floor twice a day like i used to! But i still have to have things in complete order before i eat lunch or dinner or meals would be totally ruined if my home is not in perfect order.

get professional help immediately, no kidding...

at least it's only moving the furniture , etc, but you haven't washed your skin off with chlorox every minute , every waking minute...

you have a chance to survive for sure, but you do need professional help if indeed you have ocd,
