Running a Childs Credit Report?

I think my son's "mother" is either using or has sold my step son's identity, documents were taken when he was 7 (birth certificate, social security card and shot records) ... can i run his credit report to see if there is anything on it?

    Yep you sure can.

If you suspect the boy's egg donor (can't really call her a mother if she's doing something like this), I'd check it out asap.

You are a good mom to this boy! Good luck!

go to www.annualcreditreport.com and you can get a free credit report from all three agencies once a year. Best to get it from one then in 4 months get it from another then in 4 more months get it from the 3rd. That way you can check his credit report throughout the year.

I have heard of people using children's SSN to commit fraud before. I would get the 2 numbers situation straightened out with the SSA and then keep an eye on the good number for sure. You should be keeping an eye on yours anyway.

    Yes you can try.

If you are really concerned about it try this: http://www.expert-credit-advice.com/request_analys...

for the same cost of a credit report you get an expert to go over it and analyze it.....

I would have the dad do it..you being a step mom..I wouldn't advise it..the parents could say you were ruining his credit..Talk to dad and have him do it..Make a few phone calls and if necessary call the local D.A.

You have to pay, but this is a really good site. I use it all the time for credit checks, background, etc.

If he is a minor and you are a custodian, most definitely. You will need his ss#, dob, and any other relevant information.

If you aren't a custodian, you might want to ask your husband to request the report. There are many online services to get this done.

    Good luck!
