  • Is Rid Ex considered maintenance or repair?

    I have to have part of the sewer line replaced in a rental as soon as the weather permits.  I have been supplying the tenant with Rid Ex to keep the line open until it can be repaired.  I know it's an expense but what do I call it?

    Thank you in advance for your time.

  • My brother's sister-n-law sent me a nasty video about staying away when I contacted her brother who moved near by.  Should I contact him?

    My brother owe's me a lot of money and hasn't talked to me in years.  A few years ago his brother n law became a minister and recently moved near by.  We caught his sermon online on Sunday.  I messaged I'd like to come visit his new church.  He didn't respond to me but his sister (who never messages me) sent me a nasty rude video the next day saying "stay away" but I never heard back from him.  What should I do?

  • My husband bought my birthday present for himself, not me.?

    He decided he would take me to a concert 4 1/2 hours away. He didn't consult me. He had no intentions of doing a little sightseeing while we were there. Now he has spent the money and we aren't going because now he doesn't want to go. He normally won't spend more than $50 for my presents but will spend hundreds to go to a concert. He always says he's broke but will gladly spend money on himself. I don't see getting much of anything for my birthday present now that he blew his money on himself (the concert).

    I know I should be grateful to get any present but he's done this before. He never asks me what I want and I usually only get junk. I've tried to tell him what to get me (under $50) but he ignores my requests.

    I'm tired of acting like I like his gifts. I didn't want to go to the concert, spend the night and not get to visit the city before we came home.

  • Should I include part-time work on my resume when applying for an official position? They do not represent the position I'm applying for.?

    I have a degree in finance and 15+ years experience. I moved to a very small town about 1-1/2 years ago and could only find work at McDonalds. There is a treasury position open and I know I m a good candidate but I have two part-time positions on my resume since I moved here. Should I leave those on my resume or leave them off and only include relevant work history?

  • Why does my monitor look like it's taking a snap shot of my screen?

    It started the other day when my computer rebooted on it's own the other day. It's also slow enough that I can see it happening...

  • I can't enter information in Excel?

    Suddenly I can't type in my Excel workbook. I've tried 2 different workbooks and it won't let me edit or type anything. It's obviously something to do with a setting. I can't use my external keyboard or the keyboard on my notebook. Any ideas?

  • I loaned my brother money. Now they won't pay me back. He has PTSD and his wife refuses to work.?

    My brother got downsized in banking so he began teaching. When that didn’t pay all the bills they went through their mortgage company, Chase, to get their home refinanced and that was a total disaster. Anyway, I loaned them $10k. I was promised $5k payback when he got a VA settlement; however, they denied his PTSD claim. He paid me $3k over a year ago.

    I recently found out I need a new roof. I decided to put the materials on a no interest card for 18 months. I asked my brother if he could make installment payments to repay a portion of the loan so I could make the credit card payments. I still have to pay cash for the labor, etc.

    His wife complained that because of his PTSD he won’t look for full-time work and that is the root of their financial dilemma. She hasn’t worked in years but puts the blame on him. It’s her house too and she is perfectly capable of working but sleeps until 3 pm every day and stays up all night. My brother should be retiring this year but he’s going to have to work until the day he dies to pay that mortgage.

    Was I out of line to ask for installment payments Am I wrong to think my sister-in-law needs to get up and get at least a part-time job from them?

  • TX landlord sends e-mail notice of rent increase with less than 30 days notice. What are my legal options?

    New owners acquired an older mobile home park and sent me an e-mail saying that the rent for the lot was going up from $150 to $175 per month. This was sent to me with less than a 30 day notice. Is this legal? Now they are increasing the rent again from $175 to $200 per month. Each time it is an 8%+ increase. The first time was less than 30 days notice. This time they confirmed I had received the notice again with another e-mail. It's almost like they are trying to cover their tracks.

    My question: Is e-mail considered legal to inform someone that they are raising your rent? Had I not replied to the second e-mail that I received the first e-mail would that constitute a breach on my part and could they evict me?

  • I need to determine how many rolls of thatched roofing material I need to cover a canopy?

    We have a canopy with the canvas cover ripping off because of sun damage. The canopy is 12' X 10' with a separate cover over an opening in the center (which I'm not worried about).

    The canvas starts about 1' from the center and the metal ribs extend about 6" past the sides. I do not know the pitch but I believe I will need about 9' from the top to the overhang.

    I have chosen a 30" X 96" (2.5' X 8') Mexican Thatch Runner sold by Home Depot. Can someone tell me how many rolls I will need to complete this project?

    Thanks in advance for helping me with this math problem!

  • An ex-Facebook friend invited me to join a network group for working people.?

    We were best friends a couple of decades ago but she married and I continued my education. We have been connected on Facebook for several years along with her two boys and one daughter-in-law. To make a long story short, she posted a couple of non-family picks and deleted my post but carried on a conversation with her bff about the other post. I un-friended her and she can still see me and I can still see her.

    My question is this: She has no need what-so-ever to be on this work related network. I use this network to find jobs and connect with recruiters. Why is she asking me to connect with her?

  • OK guys, my boyfriend buys me stuff I don't need or want. Why?

    Once he bought me a little rubber ducky. I gave it back to him. Now he keeps it on the dash of his truck. Yesterday, for Christmas, he produced two framed black and white prints of a kitten taking a cat nap. Although they are cute, they are not something I would hang in my home. I'm mature and prefer quality over quantity. So far for Christmas he has bought me 2 faux fur throws. a ceramic cat and now the two framed prints of kittens. He has not wrapped anything but just brought them over and said "Merry Christmas". It's as if he is trying to redecorate my place. I like the throws. But they are different, they didn't match. When I asked if he would purchase one more of the one I really liked he told me NO! But then produced the framed prints. Yes, I like cats but my taste is not kittens hanging on the walls of my home. I have somewhat expensive art on my walls and there is a theme.

    He has also replaced my coffee maker and my toaster (the toaster really made me mad). Every time I tell him what I want he tells me NO then goes off and spends the same amount of money on little things that I don't want or need. Except a few weeks ago I was considering purchasing a $45 aluminum ladder because I have a large wooden one and he asked if I wanted him to buy me one for Christmas. I told him that my mother said to never buy things you need for gifts, they are supposed to be bought when they are needed and not given as gifts.

    What am I dealing with here? Women want jewelry, even if it's not overly expensive. Why does he only buy me things he likes and doesn't consider what I like. He knows what stores I shop at. I would rather have a few moderately priced gifts that don't comprise my decor. He was looking around trying to find a place for those prints last night. I promptly told him they were going in the spare room. The only way I can make those prints work in my home is to completely redo my guest bedroom to accomodate those prints...

    Any insight is appreciated. I do appreciate the fact that it is the thought that matters, but now it's looking like I'm going to hurt his feelings which I don't want to do either...

  • Excel nested IFor vlookup formula help needed?

    I'm trying to pull data from one spreadsheet into another spreadsheet for an IRS audit for 80 companies. I need to compare two columns of data (account number & account description) on one spreadsheet and match them to two columns of data in another sheet and return the value in the 3rd column of the second sheet (my table). Basically the formula should be something like "if column A = 1 & column B = ACCDEPR then return the value in column C "OR IF" column A = 2 & column B = Depr then return the value in column 3 "OR IF" , etc...OR should it be a vlookup? How do I proceed? Time is of the essence...I'm currently doing a single vlookup on the description but I also need to match it to the line item # on the IRS return.

    Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Excel formula question?

    I'm trying to total up a row (cumulative) and divide it by the total of two other rows. These are monthly totals. For example I want the total of April and May of row 2 divided by the total of April and May of row 3 added to the total of April and May of row 4. The formula I'm using doesn't give the correct answer. When I add June (all rows for June are zero), the formula stops working.

    The formula is:

    =SUM((($C$2:D2)/(SUM($C$3:D3)+(SUM($C$4:D4)))))

    C2 = 10

    D2 = 11

    C3 = 13

    D3 = 12

    C4 = 20

    D4 = 10

    If I do the formula manually the answer should be 38%. My answer is 20%. I need this for work in the morning for my boss' presentation.

    Thanks a bunch for helping me out of a jam!
