Thanksgiving.... marking America's "honorable" beginning?

It's Thanksgiving. Huzzah. It's this time of the year again that we all find it customary to sit back, reflect on the years past, and count the many, many blessings given us by the good Lord.

Whatever is there to be more thankful for than the righteous morals and values upon which this great country was founded? These values serving to this day as a moral lighthouse beaconing to the huddled masses of the world. These high-minded individuals, seeking religious tolerance and arguably a good slice of pie, blazed the path leading to today's prosperity and equality. But they did not do it alone. Striking a sound and sturdy relationship with the Indians, they learned from each other and worked as one toward a, um .. common goal, proving once again that camaraderie and fellowship overcome even the greatest adversity.

Update:

These early paragons of problem-solvers saw the potential roadblocks for what they were, and pragmatically set out to eliminate them. With the sword of pestilence and the shield of famine, and a healthy dose of libations, they did purge their path, leaving those desultory obstacles on the side of the road, where they can be found even today, selling homemade blankets or directing traffic to the nearest casino or whatever they do these days.

So let's commemorate the three-hundred-eighty-somethingth anniversary of our outstanding moral highground by paying homage to perhaps the single-most influential and effective tool at the disposal of the Western World.. without which, there would have been no quelling of the native and therefore no great groundwork promising the tradition of our rectitude and superiority.

Update 2:

What better way to (ostensibly) give thanks for this great land and its strong moral code than by throwing back some good, ol'fashioned firewater in the tradition of our forefathers and those pesky, indigenous, and thankfully displaced engens?

Update 3:

Wanna go get a drink? :P

Update 4:

No madjer I didn't go into all those details. It would have taken entirely too long. It's more about alcohol than anything... in case you didn't catch that...

Update 5:

nobody has a sense of humor... quit taking yourselves so seriously... i sat down to write an email to my friend to have some drinks and tied it in with the holiday... Think about it, where would this country be today without alcohol?

Man's humanity toward his fellow man, it never ceases to amaze me. Righteous morals, religious tolerance, common goal. That's a pipe dream worth smoking.

Americas beginnings are not really much different from any other countries in the world today. Research some ancient European history. For every country that exists today, somebody else was pushed aside or killed, or subjected to get the land. Very few countries in the world are inhabited by the original people. Get over it

Do you really think if we had not taken America over that no one else would have? Try getting into the real world! France, Spain, and Russia, all wanted it. If we had not landed, it would be another territory of another country. Most likely like Canada is today. Either way the original Indians were pushed out by the Indians we pushed out. They fought over with each other before anything white landed here.

I get a little tired of the American bashing everytime someone throws an olive branch. We are not the perfect nation, but, we are and always will be the best damn nation you got in this mixed up crazy world. For those who think we should give this country , or pieces of it, back to the Indians, then what ? We cannot undo what has already been done, that goes for the Indians, as well as reparation for the African American. We need all to make it a better country , not slice and dice it into 50 small countries.

I thank God for our country , for better or for worse. God bless our country and all the legal citizens in it.

you're curiously too youthful to save in ideas the strains at gas stations, on even/extraordinary days, to pay for, then overpriced gas. perchance you neglected the recessions of the 80's, or both circumstances disputes over the federal funds presented D.C. to a screeching halt. Chris Dodd and Barney Frank did not reliable arm each person into making risky loans. The banks and fiscal establishments did that on their personal. The heritage of banking contained in the U. S. is replete with playing of investors' money.

"Striking a sound and sturdy relationship with the Indians"?

Talk about spin, you didn't mention the total destruction of the Indian nations that were here at the time. But of course the winners always rewrite history.

If I thought you your being serious, I'd advise you to read original documentation on the real story of the 1st Thanksgiving rather than the current spin from the apologists, but since you're not being serious...

Alcohol for tobacco...one killer for another...who was the winner in that deal?
