Do you make marks or write in your Holy Text of choice? (Torah/Bible/Qur'an/etc.)?

For example, do you use a highlighter, or write in pencil or ink, to mark your favorite passages or passages that are very important to your understanding of God?

Is there some other way you keep track of such passages? If so, how do you do it?

Curious.

yes... highlighter, pencil marks, pen marks. I have some Holy Qur'ans which I use for this purpose and some I would never.

I do not use anything in the Quran; pen/pencil marks or highlighter. I am not sure if there is a declared opinion in this regard but I just feel the Quran is too holy to be treated like an ordinary book. But there are other ways.

    * put book marks in the pages where the verse is

    * write the verses that touch me the most in a notebook

    * make a 'cocktail' of a recitation of the verses that touch me the most

I'd never deface the bible with highlighter.

What I'd do is use place markers, or inserting a paper with references for key passages on it...

but I don't do even that, and have to look up the passages I want all over again, every time, usually with help from the net. Of course, the bible I currently own has such bad text I don't feel like inserting reference reminders in it.

Yes I mark passages that are important to me.

I recently got a new Bible and it came with a card that said to use a ballpoint pen because highlighters bleed through. As far as other ways to keep track of them, you could always keep a journal.

I actually do. I usually use brackets around the phrase to minimilize an overwhelming amount of color. Also, I on the right, might reference a scripture that relates to it. For example, as a Mormon I might look at the scripture in Ezekial 37:16-17. As members of the LDS faith we believe that one of the sticks (or books) referenced in the scripture is the Book of Mormon. In the margin I would right John 10:16. The quote references the mention of their being more then one flock that Jesus looked over. It's called a scripture chain and can go on as much as needed. I also used special pencils in my "scholastic" bible for courses so I could make sure I was correctly understanding the material.

Yes! And i write the things in my journal what I have gained from reading that particular verse that I highlighted. It's my way of keeping track my communications with him. Usually pure knowledge comes - personal revelation-and helps me to have a better understanding of what lies ahead in my life. It comes handy-- the journal- when life's storms come. It's one of my shelters. Good luck

Yes, I use a special Hilighter you can buy at a Bible store. It does not leak through to the other side of the page. Regular Hilgliters "bleed" through the pages as they are thin.

    Hi there.

I color code my Bible per topic. I use colored pencils. In the back of my Bible, I have a "notes" section. I write quotes or verses I like there.

    God Bless!

I sometimes use pencil to put stars beside things I happen to personally find interesting. I don't really keep track of them.
