Muscle cramps "Charley horses" are generally caused by dehydration or low potassium levels. It could also mean that you could have a back problem, if it is persistent.

Apply heat, massage your leg, walk around to circulate your blood, eat foods rich in potassium (such as bananas) and rehydrate your body with fluids. Good luck!

A Charlie Horse is usually associated with a lack of potassium. Eating at least 1 banana a day should help or large portions of potatoes.

When I get a charlie horse I usually flex my foot up and extend my leg. That usually helps subside it. I've tried this at the start of a charlie horse and it helps prevent it from happening. Get lots of sleep and rest as well(if you can ;D )

The only thing that's worked for me is to immediately stand up and start walking around. I get them from stretching my legs in bed.

I have never heard this expression before. Not sure what it means. Is it like "pins and needles?"
