What does it mean to "sign away" your parental rights?
What does it mean? Why would someone do that? Can anyone at anytime do that, under any circumstances?
Note, I did NOT say I was planning on doing this AT ALL, I was just curious. I heard some kid on Maury Povich say he was planning on doing it and was a little confused. Don't read so much into the question, just answer it.

It means that you give up all rights as a parent. You are no longer responsible for them at all. You are not financially, morally or responsible in any way. Most people that do when they can no longer care for their children or they have been through a divorce and they do not want to pay child support. I suppose you can do that at anytime if you are a parent to a child that you no longer want to have any contact with.

you better think long and hard before you do that, once you lose these rights you no longer have any legal rights concerning your child.
