Is it possible to cook fish without making your kitchen (and house) smell like fish?

Last time I tried on a skillet and the kitchen smelled like salmon for a week!

Yes! all you have to do is either soak your fish in milk, about 30min. before you cook it , or boil cinnamon while you cook it

Well a week has to be an exaggeration?? lol Fish smells like fish...when you cook it you will smell fish. Try using your overhead fan (the fan over your cook-top). Possibly this will help? Crack a window while cooking? Use some spray or candles. These are the only things I can think of.

Fish is generally best served just at the point of being done... mind you salmon can be served completely raw (a la sushi) so you can serve it pretty rare! If pan frying, about 3 minutes per side should be fine for most fish cuts. The fish will lose its transparency and become whiter and firmer. (or pinker in the case of salmon) To keep the smell to a minimum make sure your fish is super fresh.

Use fish as fresh as possible, fresh fish do not smell. After cooking, fill a small saucer with vinegar and leave it close to the stove for a couple of hours.

Grill it outside. Even with snow on the ground I keep my gas grill four steps out the door.

Just go to your friends or a neighbor's and then you've cooked it and your house doesn't smell. But poor them . . . theirs does.
