Any college counselors out there who can help me with this?
I'm a community college student and this is my second year. I already sent in my applications and I'm just curious about my chances of admission. Getting to the point, I have a 3.05 overall g.p.a. and am trying to transfer to U.C. Berkeley as a business major, I've concluded that I'll meet all the breadth requirements by the end of spring semester, but as for the prerequisites, I've got them pretty much all covered except for one english class I need which is no longer offered at my JC. Will the admissions people at Berkeley still let me it even if I'm missing just one prerequisite but have taken care of everything else?

It would be helpful if you addressed the missing course in your essay. But one missing course is hardly the deal breaker. However, keep in mind the business major is rather competitive. I'm more concerned about your GPA and your personal statement. Your GPA is well below the average (middle 50% is 3.53-3.88), this can be remediated with a trend of improvement in grades or a well written personal statement. If you already submitted your application, there isn't much you can do now but wait. But you may want to beef up the additional writing sample and resume you send to the business school in January.
Source(s): Transfer admission information is available in a brochure from Berkeley: http://students.berkeley.edu/files/Admissions/Tran... I work with both Berkeley and UCLA as an Outreach Volunteer, primarily for freshman admissions (I received training on admission requirements and attend college fairs to promote the schools). I received my BA from Berkeley and briefly attended UCLA for a graduate program. I also review (for free) applications and personal statements from high school and transfer students I meet at college fairs and thru Yahoo Answers who are applying to Berkeley and UCLA. If you want more information or need someone to review your application and essay, you can contact me thru Yahoo Answers, just look in my profile for contact info. Please make sure your e-mail address is verified with Yahoo Answers or you can include your e-mail address in the body of the message you send me and I will reply directly. - RoaringMiceLv 71 decade ago
I'm not a college counsellor. I do suggest that you call UCal Berkeley directly and speak with someone in admissions. Explain to them your situation, and ask them what they think.
It's possible that they'll accept you anyway, and have you take that missing class at their Uni. But you do need to ask them.
