Why is Bose the only speaker company that advertises?

i mean there are MUCH better companys out there, but why dont they advertise? people go ape sh*t for bose, and i dont understand that. dont other companys see that?

Update:

but come on, you cant tell me that Klipsch, B&W, Boston Acoustics, and other huge companys cant afford to spend a little money on getting the word out.

    It's all in Bose's marketing target. They have a unique way to market which others either do not want to share or are blocked someway by Bose. Bose is a marketer first and they do it well.

    Others probably don't want to compete with Bose via TV commercial because they are going in different routes, plus Bose is very sensitive to its territory and will sue whenever they have the opportunity to keep the competition at bay if challenged.

    Bose are NOT the only speaker manufacturer who advertises -- in fact I have rarely seen an ad for Bose since I tend to read real high-fi and home theatre publications.

    Axiom, for one does a lot of advertising. And a quick read of the latest copy of Perfect Vision Magazine showed ads from Paradigm, Polk, PSB, Definitive Technology, and Dali ... but I've never seen a Bose ad there. Other home theatre and audiophile mags are similar. Bose's market is the uninitiated and gullible so they don't wast money on people who care about good sound.

    This is actually a demonstration of how ads are targeted to the intended audiance ... Marketing 101.

    I think it's because Bose is the "high end consumer" brand. Bose systems are designed not for audiophiles but for people who want good quality sound without fiddling with controls (Bose, I think, is famous for selling receivers, 1-2-3 systems, wave radios, etc., that provide no opportunity for the users to customize the sound). Plus, Bose speakers are SMALL. So you get the design-o-philes who don't want big black boxes in their living rooms. Thus, it's for people who (a) don't want to fiddle, (b) want good sound, (c) can afford to spend a little more money.

    I think BA Klipsch, and others advertise to the specific niche markets rather than to the general public, because they realize that most of the general public aren't interested in their brand of product.

    The other companies do advertise if you look in the right places. They do not waste their money on the mass market. Bose equipment is overpriced, partly because the do advertise very heavily.

    Source(s): I own both Klipsh and Bose products. My 25 year old Klipsch kicks my 5 year old Bose's a*s. I should have bought more Klipsch.

    Bose is not the high-end consumer product as one mentioned hear. There are companies, like Definitive Technology, that is far superior in speakers quality, design, and engineering.

    Bose does not provide detailed specifications on their products. A consumer can't make a wise consumer decision without the additional needed specifications regarding Bose's SLP, THD, etc.

    If you sold $3 speakers for $1500, you'd have a huge marketing budget as well. Just like Apple and the iPod. $99 of hardware tops, sells for $499.
