First of all, congratulations to your husband for choosing to serve his country by enlisting in the Army. He chose to do a tough job that is certainly needed and I hope that you and your family support him in this decision.

Yes, there is a chance that he will be deployed somewhere during his time in the Army. Some get deployed to Afghanistan, some to Iraq, some even get deployed to Hawaii; soldiers go everywhere around the world.

It sounds like he is in a career field that is considered to be a "non-combatant". That means while working he would not normally carry a firearm but would be one of the people to treat those that were injured or wounded. This is a respected position in the Army.

I wish both of you the best as you enter the Army family. Please take a look at the Army website, paying particular attention to the posts and installations that he may be stationed. At the bottom of the Army home page there is a link called "A to Z". From here you can find the sites to all of the forts.

    Good Luck!

When you are in the Army always plan for the worse. If there is a way...it can happen.

I was told my unit would never deploy several months before transfering into it so I could finally get some college done...first formation we got deployed (I was so bummed) but it part of the service of being a US soldier.

Good luck to you and him and his service.

One thing I've learned since my husband joined the army is to hope for the best but expect the worse. And since this is wartime you have to expect him to be deployed at some point.

Every body deploys no matter what. We need health care specialist over there. Think about it if troops deploy then why wouldn't support personnel deploy.Every body's needed.

Yes, he will be deployed. Heck, the reserves are on their second tours.

If he's lucky, it won't be four times since 2003, like my husband's unit.

But he's airborne artillery, so, his op tempo is a bit different.

i really doubt but who know if he isnt deployed the likelyhood is that he could be shipped overseas for a year to serve on an american base in another country

Well, I not want to mislead you. So, it seem to me, he would not, but, there can always be that possibility. It would think he stay here or go overseas to a peace area to work in a Hospital.

Any soldier, in any MOS, at any time can be deployed.

Absolutely, there is a war going on and there is no such thing as an non-deployable MOS.
