I'm thinking about buying a Hyundai are they good cars?

Hyundais are excellent cars. My parents had one that had 180,000 miles on it. It was a 2000 Elantra. It had the origonal clutch and only the second set of brakes on it. The only thing that ever broke was the rear wiper motor. Other than the rear wiper motor, the oil, the brakes, tires and the timing belt nothing was ever replaced. And all of these are wearable parts that would have to be replaced on ANY car. They would still have it but they wrecked it on some bad roads. Definately look into buying a hyundai. By the way they have a 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and an extendable bumper to bumper warranty.

i do no longer propose Hyundai. i offered a 2014 Tuscon in January and in April it began breaking on this is very own. Took it back to Hyundai two times who claimed no longer something replace into incorrect. Opened a case with Hyundai at the instant and that they tell me to get a 2d opinion and now yet another Hyundai has had it in the keep for a month and that they nonetheless don't be attentive to what's incorrect. Plus they gave me a huge stink relating to the motor vehicle having 6,000 miles whilst this is purely 6 months previous. be careful whilst buying HYUNDAI!!

Hyundais used to suck, so everyone thinks they still suck even though they don't deserve it nowadays. Hyundai's build quality today is on-par with the best (even better than Toyota and Honda, according to JD Power surveys). However the cars from 3 years ago still break down more often than average, so it's hard to say if the newfound quality will translate to reliability. On the other hand, the average is higher now than a few years ago, with all cars improving, so at some point it becomes a difference between "excellent, " and "very very good."

Given their latest quality ratings, warranty, crash test results and price advantage, I'd say check them out before you decide. You might get more peace-of-mind with a Honda, but you'd give up a lot of features for it.

Hyundais aren't extremely reliable, but are better than Kia's. If you didn't mind the reliability issues with VW then Hyundai shouldn't be that much different. You should really consider a Honda or a Toyota in my opinion ;-)

A friend of mine had an 02 Tiburon and she had to have about $8000 worth of work on it in the 3 years she had it including a new transmission. She later totaled it in an accident! Such a shame!

As my opinion from working with Universal Studio's Fast and The Furious movies and a rapper heading to Aftermath Ent. the Hyundai's are worth nothing, they are ok car if you want to learn how to drive but as a car - car they just ain't good. Here are my suggestions of a Japanese car:

get a Honda. it's the best quality for a fairly decent price. way better than Hyundai and has won more awards. i have a 97 Civic that still runs well and i know someone that totaled there's but came out only scratched and bruised. Volkswagen's are great cars too, i'm sure you've seen those Jetta commercials about how safe they are. so you may want to stick with that. good luck!

Don't bother with the naysayers, save yourself a ton of money and buy a Hyundai. They have a better warranty than ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING FROM JAPAN, GERMANY, and the USA.

They provide great service and they make much better cars than they used to.

They offer roadside assistance...FREE for 5 years, a great warranty, and they don't cost NEAR AS MUCH as domestic vehicles. My 02 Hyundai Elantra has 100K miles on it and runs great every day of the week.

They didn't used to be, but they're improving. However, since you love Volkswagon, and are used to it, you need a good reason before switching brands.

I rented a sonata a few months ago for a 10 hour trip, and my tailbone started hurting after only 2 hours. The seats are just about the least comfortable I have ever sat on.....That shouldn't happen with today's technology.
