Help my internet keeps freezing!?!?

Since yesterday afternoon my internet freezes whenever I click on a link that opens into a new browser (this including my email so I can not read my email and that is a problem!). If I go directly to a page I have no issues but if I click a link it freezes right up. I have tried rebooting, etc nothing is helping. I ran a Norton scan it found two low risk items I resolved those but it is not helping. What am I missing??? This is really becoming a problem as I need to get into my email for work! Please help!

Update:

Thanks for your help. First of all I have cable connection so it wouldnt matter if someone was trying to call.

Everything is set to default already. How do I reinstall my browser? Not sure how to do that

    Hello,

You may want to do a cache cleaning. Goto "Tools > Internet Options>" in IE. Delete cookies and delete files, be sure you check delete all offline content. Then defragment your hard drive by going to Start>Accessories>System Tools>Defragmentation don't use your computer while it is defragmenting. So give that a try and see if it helps.

    Good luck!

  • I would suggest going into the security options for your browser and setting everything to DEFAULTS for starters, and I would also suggest clearing out all your cache and temp files.

If that doesn't help, consider reinstalling your browser.

    1. maybe your storage is superfull, defrag the hard drive

    2. use a reliable program to delete spyware and adaware

    3. use a good anti virus program, virus can slow the pc too

    4. have a firewall, so no programs can get through your system and make it slow

You need to take it to the shop. It may be full of virus. this happened to my comp. once, my father took it to get it right and the man said it had virus.

And do get a virus scanner in it. it helps a lot.

My comp has McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0.0

    Good Luck!!
