A good cheap laptop?
I think the only present that I'm going to buy for Christmas is a laptop for my mom. She doesn't need much, just a good solid stable system that will last her a couple of years.
I have found a couple of deals that will suit that need pretty good, but I would love to hear if someone has any other deals they know about.
No Macs please. Not that I mind Apple (other than iTunes and QuickTime), but I'm a Windows programmer, and I need to be able to hold her hand when she needs help.

Check out Walmart, Sams and Costco. They all have some pretty good deals on Laptops... oh, check Target too.
Costco is really good because they back the products that they sell. I'm not sure about the others. Don't waste your money on the extended warranty. Most computers don't do too well after 3 years anyway.

Go to any electronic retail store (Best Buy or Circuit City). Here's some recommendations: choose any of these Intel processors: Celeron M, Core Duo, or Core 2 Duo; at least 512 MB DDR2 PC4200 RAM;Windows XP Pro or Home Ed. (SP2). Or else go to newegg.com (they got pretty good deals). If you want to search extensively, then go to pricewatch.com

hey, im not an expert in computas but i no that k=mart n target hav gud prices. if u r afta a cheap computa u could even try www.ebay.com they hav a variety n they r very cheap...gud luck on ur search!
