Should I get fitted for contacts at my optometrist firstor just go straight to my optician?
I've never had contacts before and I've decided I want to get some. I'll probably wear them only part time but I don't know if I should get fitted by my optometrist or not. Is it better? Or can I go directly to the optician with my prescription.

Because contacts are considered a medical device, only an Optometrist or Opthalmologist can prescribe them for you. Your contact lens prescription is only good for a year and it's not the same as your glasses' prescription. Your eyes need to be fitted and so this entails an additional part of a regular eye exam. It's known as a contact lens fitting. If you are only going to wear them part-time you might want to go disposable for contacts. It also depends on if you have an astigmatism and will contacts work for you.
