Have you ever been on a cruise?

If so, how was it? My husband and I are thinking about going next year and I'd like some opinions. If you wouldn't suggest a cruise then what other vacation spot would you suggest? All suggestions are appreciated!

Well, im back from my cruise. Steph and i sailed on the royal carribean cruise line, "Floating Trailer Park" is what the ship was called, atleast by me anyways lol. that **** was bullshit...bunch of low class cheesy racist (not all some were very nice) but the vast majority of people aboard that ship were trailer park trash whitey's trying to be glamorous...wit matching snotty attitude to boot,... hallways reaked of ***,(cheaper rooms have hallways with no air circulation) and our room smelled like the piss u smell at public restrooms...after a while u get used to it,,,but it kinda kills the mood it trying to take advantage of room service, which was included,..hard to eat in that environment...everything is rush rush,..no time to enjoy the ports,,,oh and they're always trying to push shopping on you...once on board, it seems everything, i mean everything, from entertainment to dining, sightseeing, is all geared to get you to spend money...it like being stuck in a horrible informercial with the people you would expect to attend such an informercial....anyways,,,cruises are a monumental waste of money,...unless you got money to burn and you're okay wit it, then cruises are great...and you have to like the smell of ***, cuz that is the fragrance of the sea apparantly aboard the cruise ship which i like to car the Trailer Park of the Sea. never again...i think im spoiled. i cant stand that bullshit American vacationing.,..i much rather suffer in the jungle or **** in a hole in the mountain anyday.

that was a letter a friend sent to me last week after getting back from a cruise. Personally, I'd go to Paris or Rome. Both very beautiful cities.

yes, My husband and I won a cruise on Carneval to the Carribean Islands. We left Ft. Lauderdale, went to San Juan, St. Martin and St. Thomas. We loved being on the islands, walking around, trying and seeing new things.

We hated being on that ship. The stablizer let go on one side and we had an exciting time of it. The shops were a mess, broken glass everywhere, people washed up out of the pool. we were lucky we were sitting down when it happened. That wasn't that bad though. The thing was that it was boring. We went to a few shows, art auction. There's just too many people in one place and once we were done eating there's not much to do but sit in the sun and go to the clubs.

There was no sitting by the pool because it's very hard to find an empty chaise. People get up early, leave their stuff on seats to "save" them and then are MIA for most of the day - there's tons of empty seats, holding peoples belonging and no place to sit.

If I were ever to do it again, I would definatly not use Carveval. You have to check what the reputation of the cruise line is. Some are better suited to the Party Pack - like the one were on. Others are for the more mature and others geared toward families.

No I personally would not think a cruise ship would be all that clean. Like a plane, does a cruise ship have a water treatment plant aboard? What if the ship had rodents? Do they get off when the ship docks at land? Or would they stay in the kitchen where the food is at? What about all the garbage, where does that go? Into the sea? Yuk.

Not including if something went wrong, there is water all around a ship...what if the ship would leave without you as you were looking around a port town? If one has health problems and had to get to a hospital, does a ship have all the equipment as a hospital has? What if someone has a infectious decease? Or caught one at one of the port towns? How would that person be quarantined without giving it to someone else?

Anyhoo this is my thought pattern when thinking of somewhere to go on a vacation...

    It was okay...

If you don't like people, you'll find it a bit hard to actually escape them.

We were lucky enough to sit with a Dutch couple at your "fancy dinner" so we had great conversation and decent food...

Everything is a bit timed and forced on you, you have little time to do things when you actually want to do them.

The room s are small unless you get a suite and they are not the most sanitary places in the world because of the fast turnover.

Bring your own antibacterial EVERYTHING! Shower slippers, towles and sheets even if you're that anal?

The breakfast buffets are the best and the excursions are a little borning unless you rent a car. Walking doesn't allow you to go as far as you might like in the time allotted and cabs can be both shady and expensive.

We went to Nassau and Key west... I would have preferred flying in and staying at Atlantis directly. Just visiting made us feel like beggars! Next time I would just go right there and stay in the hotel itself.

I went on a cruise three months before Hurricane Katrina and we set sail out of New Orleans. I went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman Island, and Cozumel. I enjoyed the cruise, but you don't get to spend too much time in each location. I got sick the last stop of the cruise when we stopped in Cozumel and I couldn't enjoy it. Here are a few tips to enjoy the cruise. Buy water, pops, and snacks before you board the cruise. When you go to dinner, you are not limited to one entree. You can have all of the choices if you want them, because you already paid for it. The rooms are small and that is to get you out of the room to use and pay for the amenities aboard the ship.

I've been twice. Once just me & my best friend and the 2nd time it took my kids. We sailed out of New Orleans.

First time I went Carvial - we went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel - it was nice.

Second time I went Norweigan - it was a little cheaper and I liked it MUCH better. We did the freestyle cruising and I really liked that much better, plus we went to 4 ports instead of 3. We went to Cancun, Belize City, Roatan Bay and Cozumel...

It depends on where you're sailing out of, but the western caribbean is absolutely stunning. Oh and book it through a travel agent, you think you'd spend more but you don't and you get FREE UPGRADES - we paid for an inside cabin and got upgraded (for FREE mind you) to an outside cabin with a terrific view.

Hope you have a wonderful time...

I went on a cruise to the carribean. It was rubbish! the food on the ship was terrible, the trips organised by the cruise company were poorly organised, frequently cancelled, and often disappointing. The carribean itself was also disappointing, mainly due to the heavy rain.

I think cruises can be good but make sure you do it properly. Also i got sea sick, took sea sickness tablets then constantly became drowsy!

We went on a cruise to the Bahamas and we loved it. I didn't think about life back in the states until I was halfway home. It was the best getaway I have ever had and it was the best way to go money wise. I would suggest you go!!!! oh yeah Paradise Island was the best!!!

I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas from Florida's Spacecoast.

It sure was fun though. We went to Nassau and Royal Caribbean's private island CocoCay in the Bahamas. It was only 3 nights but it was affordable and loads of fun.
