How can I clean my pilot light?
The pilot light on my gas stove (heating, not cooking) won't stay lit. This only started a couple of days ago. It will relight and stay on until the stove kicks off, then it goes out again. I have read that it may need cleaning, how do I clean it? I want to try that first before I call someone to come look at it. What should I use to clean it?
It doesn't go out every time the stove kicks off. It has gone out about 4 times in the past 3 days. But it used to never do that.

That is residue build up.Try using a small wire brush on the pilot tube. That should take care of it!

your heater might have a thermocouple or a flame sensor that needs to be replaced. this is a small rod that sticks into the pilot flame and "senses" the pilot telling the gas valve that it is safe to turn on the main gas valve.
Check for this if cleaning the pilot assembly doesn't work.
