When my son & I toured The USS Yorktown we noticed a hatch leading down inside the ship that coins and money had been tossed down into. We don t know the tradition, or why there were coins left behind. Does anyone know the story? Thanks.

Our Wii had been disconnected for awhile and I tried hooking it back up last night.  I get nothing but a blue screen.  The green power light comes on, the disc area lights up blue for a few seconds as always, but nothing appears on my screen.  I have the Wii connected to the TV, and have the TV on the correct setting (Video 1) for the connection.  I have moved it to the Video 2 spot and that didn't help.  Currently the cable is plugged in there and it is working just fine.  I tried connecting it to a different TV with an audio/video adaptor and it did the same thing there.  I have tried everything I can think of.  I pulled up connection instructions online and followed those just to be sure I wasn't missing anything.  The only thing I wasn't able to do was replace the batteries in the remote...does that have anything to do with it?  Any ideas?  My unit is still under warranty, but I need to act fast if I'm going to use that and I don't want to send it for repair if I don't need to.  Thanks for any suggestions!!

There was a book read on the Captain Kangaroo show when I was a kid and I have never heard it again. It was about a boy who pushed his food onto his fork with his thumb and eventually a garden grew out of his thumb. I can't find any info about this book anywhere. Does anyone know the book I am talking about?

I had a cavity filled last week and for the first few days it felt great. No sensitivity or pain at all. Then a couple of days ago it started being sensitive to hot and cold. And yesterday it started causing me a little discomfort, first when I was swallowing food and then later even when I was just swallowing saliva. Even if I chew on the other side, the suction that occurs when I swallow is causing a weird pain in that new filling. My mom is a retired dental assistant so I had her look at the filling to make sure everthing looked okay with it before I went back to the dentist to have him look at it, and she said it looked just fine, just to not chew on that side for a few days and let it "rest" and see if it eases up. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this sort of weird pain and if it went away quickly or what you found out was wrong. Thanks

I see ads all over the place for companies that bank cord blood, but nothing about the average cost of this. Has anyone looked into it and know how much it costs typically?

We have a Dell 1600N multifunctional printer that has a fax machine function as well. Today it has started printing multiple copies of each faxed page that it received. It started out printing 4 or 5 copies and now is stuck on one page and I am up to about 30 copies so far and have had to just open a door on the printer to stall the printer from working. I have tried clearing and resetting, that didn't work. I have unplugged it and plugged it back in, that didn't work. Is there anything I can do? I can't get any of the subsequent faxes because it is stuck on that one page.....HELP

I though she looked like a BRAT when she started rolling her eyes as soon as he started to tell her she was off pitch, which she was......I think these young people should show some respect to the judges for sharing their knowledge....and Randy is usually very fair, no need to be so disrespectful!! HOW RUDE!!

I wonder why the idea that Jesus married and had a family while on earth is so upsetting to some people. Jesus was flesh and blood while he was on earth, he was a man. And, although he was about a certain purpose in this world, why is not acceptable that he had the same kind of life that other men had in the process? I am a Christian and I am not offended by this idea. Why does this upset people?

My boyfriend brought home a country ham last weekend and now we need to cook the thing....I don't think he had any idea all that goes into cooking a country ham. So, I'm wondering if anyone has an easier way than the pressure cooker method that my mom uses to cook a country ham....do I have to use that cooker and then wrap it up and all that? Or is there an easier way? If all else fails I will just take it and have it sliced for frying.

I do not understand why people are offended by others who wish to celebrate their holiday of choice, and why is it offensive to them if someone says "Merry Christmas"? I celebrate Christmas, but would not be offended if I walked in somewhere and saw other types of holiday symbols, like a menorah or kinara. I think that if someone is celebrating something and wants to wish you greetings then you should just accept them and go on. If someone came in our office and said "Happy Hannukah" to me I would not run out offended and throw a fit. I would say "the same to you and a Merry Christmas, too" and go on with my day. And I think that people who celebrate Hannukah and Kwanza probably feel the same way. So, why has it become so offensive to people for all of us to publically celebrate our holidays? And why should the people who chose not to celebrate anything get to dictate where decorations and expressions of these holidays can be displayed? Why does it bother you so much?

This question is about the actual twistedhumor.com web site....Last time I went to twistedhumor.com there was a message that it would be back up and running in fall 2006....but I went there today and just got an error message...couldn't get there at all. Is the site going to be back up and running sometime soon, or is it gone for good?

When my boyfriend and I first met he told me that he was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to have kids....I never asked how he knew that and just figured that if he wanted to tell me why he would tell me....Now I have been off the pill for 2 years and no pregnancy as yet. I am wondering if anyone else has been convinced that there was no hope for children and then got a happy surprise. I know we can adopt or foster children and we may consider that at some point...but right now I am only asking about people who have conceived when they thought it was impossible. I guess I just want some hope. Thanks

I had a cavity filled about a month ago and it was deeper than they thought and they actually ended up drilling into the nerve part a little bit. Now it is extreemly sensitive to hot and cold, especially cold. It is actually quite painful when anything hot or cold touches that tooth. Is there anything I can do to help that tooth not be so sensitive (short of having a root canal, which they did tell me I might have to do because of the depth of the cavity, but only if it develops an ache). I doubt that the toothpaste for sensitive teeth would work on something like this.....has anyone had this problem? What worked for you?

I am having some friends over this weekend and want to have appetizers, but am tired of the same old cocktail wieners, pigs in a blanket, chips and stuff...just want something new to try, something that's basic and pretty easy.... My oven is broken so preferrably things that don't need to be baked. Thanks!!

The pilot light on my gas stove (heating, not cooking) won't stay lit. This only started a couple of days ago. It will relight and stay on until the stove kicks off, then it goes out again. I have read that it may need cleaning, how do I clean it? I want to try that first before I call someone to come look at it. What should I use to clean it?

My boyfriend is having pain in his stomache. He says it feels like someone has a belt around his middle and keep tightening it. It's all the way across from one side to the other, but it's not up in his chest. He couldn't really describe it any other way, but did say that it comes and goes. Have you ever had a pain like that?....What was it?

He's one of those people who will not go to the doctor or hospital no matter what....so although I know he should have it checked out, he won't go....that's why I am asking here.

I have had my cat since September and lately she has been absolutely driving me nuts. She gets into everything and drags stuff out all over the house, she won't leave things alone that are on the coffee table and keeps knocking glasses over and spilling cola on the table and the carpet, she can't seem to learn not to chew on my hands and wakes me up at all hours climbing all over me while I'm trying to sleep.

I know....she is a cat and cats get into things. I understand, but this has gotten excessive. I tried the spray bottle when she bothers the things on the coffee table or claws the furnature but that doesn't work. She watches me while she does those things and when she sees me move (to spray) she runs away...ugh.

I know she wants attention when I get home and I give it to her. I let her lay on me a cuddle while I'm watching tv, so I'm not depriving her of attention. But I am at the end of my rope and can't take much more. Is there anything else I can try?
