Reasons for my cats hairloss?

Some cats have contact allergy to plastic, so if you have a plastic food dish, try switching to metal or ceramic. If that doesn't help and your vet still isn't worried, find a new vet.

Funny you should mention this, but I've had cats for years and didn't get this until a few year ago. The cat we've got is not generally highly strung (which if you've owned cats for a while, you can tell the difference), but it does tend to loose hair on it's neck and next to it's eyes. Although it does scratch there occasionally, it doesn't irritate the skin enough to notice it, and certainly not enough for bald patches.

It seems that the cat had at some point around 6mths-1yr developed several patches around it's face and one at the base of his tail which just didn't grow hair and eventually in a few years became more prone to being irritated. The cat however (although it does flare up every 8-10mths) is very jolly & loveable, not noticing any problems, still as active as ever and now 14 (although mildly overweight). If the skin does flare up, cotton wool balls and salt water will care for the wounds/sores and if it gets bad, a cone is a godsend for a fortnight, but otherwise, don't worry, it's probably just something genetic or an allergy and hasn't affeced my cat's general health, happiness, liveliness or living to a ripe old age.

All of the answers are good and here's another to consider. Since you have had him to the vet already, this probably isn't it but ringworm (which is a fungus) is very common in animals and it makes the hair fall out. The area does not have to be itchy but it will look a little dandruffy.

well there are many reasons for hair loss in cats! it cold be allergies it could be poor nutrition! the best thing to do is not to wait and take him to the vet! hope this helps! good luck!

It could be a dozen things but just put some neosporin on it , it should be ok in a couple of weeks.
