DO NOT use diesel fuel or gasoline or anything combustable, there have been many accidents because it was thought that was a solution or remedy for head lice.

Rubbing alcohol and diesel fuel are dangerous chemicals that are absorded into the body thru our skin, you really don't want to use this on anyone's head, especially children. Try using a high grade of Tea Tree Oil (melaleuca alternifolia) mixed in your regular shampoo or get some Melaleuca Oil Shampoo - email me on where to buy this shampoo - it's a catalog.internet store.

And please beware of over the counter head lice shampoo as most of these contain dangerous PESTICIDES.

None of the above. Go to the pharmacy and find the shampoo for treating head lice. Lice Shampoo is the best treatment. There are different names, but ask the pharmacist which is the best one. Also, change your bed linens, look for nits (the little shiny things in your hair that you cannot remove by combing.

Do not wear a head covering (like a hat or cap)that you wore before you got lice (if you have it). Throw the head coverings away or wash them in hot water. (best to throw them away). They contain the nits and you can just get the lice back. Get new brush and comb and throw the old ones away to be safe. Never use anyone's comb or brush but your own.

Try getting some pure Teetree oil...add approx 15-20 drops to enough olive oil to saturate the hair...leave on for approx 20 minutes, rinse.

Shampoo well, rinse, another 15-20 drops of teetree oil (or as much as will cover the hair and scalp well) only and massage into hair and scalp...do not rinse.

Then using a "nit" comb go through the hair several times.

24 hours later redo the treatment and then after every shampoo thereafter, add the teetree oil as the final application to keep lice away.

You can also use Teetree oil shampoos and conditioners or add teetree oil to your favorite shampoos for a regular treatment every week or so.

The other route is to use the expensive treatments which have to be redone a few weeks later anyway usually.

My entire group of kids (5) plus myself got head lice the first year we moved to another city...it was wretched and even tho we used the treatments purchased nothing worked...until we used the teetree...I was generous with it too trying to get rid of these things...it worked very well and we've not had any recurrences in a number of years now thank goodness.

No. None of the things you mention will have any effect.

Worse yet, most modern head lice have developed a resistance to most over the counter treatments.

Olive oil and a lice comb are pretty effective. The oil prevents the little buggers from being able to attach their egg sacks to your hair. The lice comb simply removes the little buggers and their eggs.

The down side is you need to *thoroughly* coat and comb your hair (all the way down to the scalp) daily for about 10 days and leave the oil in for about an hour each time to completely get rid of the little buggers.
