What are some pros & cons of all-inclusive resorts?
My husband and I want to go next year to an all inclusive resort in Mexico but I've never been before. Please educate me as much as you can! I'd appreciate it!

All inclusives are nice because you know the price you will pay to have a nice time. I went to Paradise Villiage in Peurto Vallarta and it was great. I definitely recommend all-inclusives.
The downside is that if you stay too long, you might feel a need to get out and do something else, which means you will pay for meals while you are out that you have already paid to eat at the resort. Also, see what is included--sometimes you have to pay extra if you are picky about what you are drinking or don't want to eat at the designated times. Surely you are going to make at least one excursion off the resort if you stay a week, and it'll cost you. If you think you could spend almost the whole time at the pool, beach, and various clubs and restaraunts at the hotel, it is well worth it.

Honestly, I don't see cons. i went to an all inclusive adult only resort in Jamaica and cannot wait to do it again. You know what you are getting, it is luxury, and as long as you pack accordingly and think ahead you will not get bombarded by gift shop prices for sunscreen or shampoo. (that is where more money than I would like to admit went on my trip. oops) I stayed at the Sandals Carlyle. It is fairly priced, is right by the hip strip if you are interested in true local culture, and has a public beach across the street from the resort. It is small and intimate but the Sandals has an awesome deal where if you stay at one of their resorts, you can be transported, and enjoy everything at all three resorts in Montego Bay. I highly recommend it. We spent alot of time at the Sandal Montego Bay, but i would not choose that one to stay at because it is right by the airport and can be loud.

An all inclusive in Mexico sounded good to me...until a couple of friends had a bad experience at one of those places. It seemed that they cooked all of the food with the same cooking grease. Everything had a hint of fish to the taste.
I know not every place does that. So I would research the places on the internet and find the reviews on them. That would be a good place to start.

all inclusive is a good idea if you dont want to visit the area and just stay in the resort. (usually good if outside the area is not safe) But if you like to venture out you should probly just get the room and go from there!

pros - everything is included, you don't need a wallet. It's extremely relaxing not having to worry about money once you are there.
cons - usually quite a bit more expensive per day than you would be used to paying for just a hotel. However, if you actually do the sums it's usually cheaper in the end.
