If the fear of GOD is the beginnig of wisdom, why is Richard Dawkins such a diehard atheist?

I'll tell you why. Because extreme intellect and reasoning powers do not equal wisdom. The man is extremely intelligent, even gifted - but he is also very stupid.

Update:

Say what's on your mind. I give thumbs up to everybody.

He is gifted, but he is equating philosophical naturalism with evolutionary science. Thus, the more he advocates evolution, he cannot resist attacking views that are not philosophically naturalistic. If he would listen to his critics more, he would be a better scholar. But he dismisses them, as their views do not fit within his program. It is unfortunate. He should be a bit more humble, given that he has no training in philosophy and religion, two fields he now wishes to make contributions. I've never heard a philosopher of religion (other than Dennett) refer to Dawkins in their own work. He just isn't there, yet. Until he can start paying attention to the shortcomings of his work made clear by reviewers, I can't take him very seriously. He should stick with science, until then.

Here is a critique from a fellow atheist.

OK. A man's giftedness is a poor substitute for the Wisdom that comes from knowing God.

first of all, maximum atheists do not cite Dawkins as a place kind and he's not a cult discern. greater theists cite Dawkins than atheists do. i became into an atheist long in the previous i might ever even heard of Dawkins. that is theists who obsess approximately him and turn him right into a cult discern, because of the fact they are in a position to't think of a international wherein the "messiah/disciple" kind isn't accompanied. opposite to what "Arch" incorrectly mentioned, we don't could worship some thing. you elect to...we don't. he's have been given an exciting concepts, he's an outspoken atheist while that is nonetheless risky for some atheists to be open approximately their atheism, and he's an extremely enormously-respected scientist who likes to communicate on philosophy and technology...yet a "cult discern for atheists?" No.

Who says that fear of God is the beginning of wisdom? That is your standard, but not everyone's. The beginning of wisdom is admitting that you don't know everything. Richard Dawkins has a right to his opinion, even if you don't agree with it. In order for me to continue believing in God I had to change my definition of what God was... not a supernatural being, but the natural universe. Its kind of silly to deny that the natural universe exists. It is a lot easier to believe that an old man with a long white beard on a golden throne in the sky that is omnipotent does NOT exist.

Human intelligence and wisdom are as nothing compared to God's:

    Isaiah 47:10

You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, 'No one sees me.' Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me.'

    1 Corinthians 1:17

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power

    1 Corinthians 1:20

Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

Evidently the fear of God has no bearing on wisdom but I would question your right to say a man who has spent a lifetime studying and working in education could be stupid. I wouldn't dismiss his views so lightly even if I dislike his confrontational style.

It's not logical. It's appeal to fear, argumentum ad metam or argumentum in terrorem are logical fallacies they are wrong most of the time exempli gratia Someone points a gun to you head and tells you 2+2=5, You don't want to die so 2+2=5, therefore 2+2=5 but in reality it isn't. Read 1984, in some ways God is big brother..

I believe you mean Hawkins. Just because hawkins is an expert on Astrology it does'nt make him right. There is so much that even he does'nt understand about the universe and its creation. God is much more in controll than he will ever believe or wants to believe. he does'nt have all the answers and he bloody well knows it.

One can be very smart but have no wisdom. Others have no formal education but are extremely wise.
