Now that the Democrats are in control of congress how long will it take before we can all get back on welfare?

Well my ol lady spent all the money on crack and I really need a drink and I was hoping to sell my food stamps for some Mad Dog.

You will probably have to wait for a Democrat president too.

Just for the record, the republicans passed the first welfare reform in 1995. President Clinton vetoed it twice. Only after his adviser Dick Morris convinced him that he needed to sign it or risk his reelection chances did Clinton put it through. After it was seen as a stunning success, President Clinton reversed his position and started taking credit for it.

Using mocking cynicism is no substitute for having real ideas, political discussion is the ability to think out, substantiate and defend often complex proposals, rather than attempting to take a cheap swat at the opposition. It would probably be better for you to keep your mouth closed if all you are inclined to do is expose your cynicism. It would at least lead you to less embarassment and perhaps even higher self esteem. This type of provocation is not the solution it exactly defines the problem

Interestingly enough, it was while a Democrat was in office that welfare was practically eliminated.

You should get your facts straight.
