My son is 2 years old and I'm thinking about potty training. Any suggestions on how to start from parents?
My son turned 2 in September. We got him a potty chair on his birthday and he sits on it with his clothes on. This was suggested by the manufacturer as a way to get them used to sitting on the chair. He doesn't tell me when he has to pee or poop yet and maybe I'm jumping the gun to want to start now. Just wondering if the parents want to share their potty training experiences, stories and suggestions.

I used the book, "Potty Train Your Child in Just One Day: Proven Secrets of the Potty Pro" by Teri Crane, Toni Robino, Toni Robino (With), Philip Caravella (Foreword by) It worked really well. Even after the party I still had to take her a lot to the potty, because she still doesn't tell me she has to go, but she doesn't pee in her pants anymore. 2 weeks after the party, she started just going in there and going all by herself. She didn't tell me she had to go, she just went! I love this book, and it is a lot of fun for you and the kid!!!! Good Luck!

I was having a hard time trying to potty train my son being as I wasn't equipped like he was. So get your husband to do it or a male relative. One day when my son was about 1 1/2 years old he walked in on his grand-father and figured out what to do with the thing. After that he thought that was fun so he started going on his own. I put him a small stool so he could step up and use the big potty. As far as the other business you should know when he is ready to go by now so just sit him on his potty after he eats or whenever he normally goes and give him a book to look at or something else he likes. Also it won't hurt to let him wear his dirty diaper for awhile and tell him he's a big boy now and needs to use the potty.

I let my son walk around the house with nothing on, just an undershirt. He needs to be comfortable with himself in order for potty training to work. Put the potty in the bathroom, and take him to the bathroom when you go so he can have an idea of what its all about. You dont necessarily need a man to help him. And I started my son on his second birthday too. Once he gets used to sitting, and does it the first couple of times on his own, then you can teach standing. Good luck!

i went straight from diapers to under ware ya that's a lot of wet clothing but it is not that bad i had my son trained in less that 2 months at 16month and my girl in3 months at 17 mo so your starting at a good time just keep it up .
find something he is wanting don't buy it and find a pic of it put on bathroom door with a pocket or some think he can put paper in every time he goes pee he gets 50cents and poo he gets 75cents when he get all the money take him to get the reward i used the play money u can get a wal-mart to give him but start with some thing that doesn't cost much mine was a $5 car but when he peed in his pants HE had to take out 25 cents just be pashant with he and good luck with it at first you need to slow down onthe sippy and take to bath room about every 30 min

All four of my kids have had their own schedule. I had my son learn at a year and a half and both of my daughters were two and a half. I had the potty there and i bought them their own underwear. When they were ready they let me know.
Good luck.
