a quick question on remote access?

When a remote access is provided by the office to the user and if the user uses it by accessing through the home PC, would the IT team be able to access the home PC.

That is can they view what is all stored in the system, personal files etc..or they cannot. (we usually see that IT would be able to have complete access to office PCs even though we have personal drives).

AFAIK, they shouldn't be able to unless of course you are mandated to install your company's software provided by IT on your home pc.

Since you have admin account on your home pc, you have full rights to block any such unauthorized access, if any.

No, if you are using your own pc at home, you have your own rights as to who gets in or what they can see. At work they give themselves the rights to the hard drive in the form as domain admins, your pc is not part of the domain so they have no access to it. Unless you have the everyone full access rights to the C: drive then anyone can access it. check the user rights on c:\ drive and change it accordingly. Also, since your pc is not part of their domain, they will need a username and password to get on your c:\ drive, if it is setup properly.

Probably not unless it's a company imaged PC with some sort of client on it or they have admin rights. Usually though if they've given you VPN access they would have something installled on the PC you use at least for virus protection. If they let you use your home PC to VPN in, they have a poor security policy, unless you're just talking about web mail.
