Eggs keep for a long time in the fridge. In some european countries they dont even refrigerate their eggs, they keep them in a cupboard and I know they will keep that way for at least a week or 2. As for in the fridge, if you are concerned that your eggs moght not still be good, put them in a pot of water, if they float Throw them out

Eggs can be eaten after the sell by date. You'll really know when you crack the egg open - if its rotten you'll smell it! A good way to tell if it is a decent egg or not is crack open the egg, and place on a plate or bowl and the more firmness (of the white) around the yoke the better. As the white becomes runny and is not hugging the yoke the older and less nutritious it is!

from fresh, about 6 weeks.
the problem is the eggs supermarkets sell can be up to 28 days old.
Note, the only "legal" requirement on using the word "fresh" with eggs is that they need to be stored refridgerated. daft eh ?
we sell eggs from our hens. If ours are a day old, we can't call them fresh, but a supermarket can call 4 week old eggs fresh.
me: selling eggs for years from our farm gate and frustrated that most people do not know what fresh eggs taste like...you don't know what you are missing
we often eat eggs older than a month - no problem with them..

By how they sink in a bowl of water. The less air the egg has in it the better. If it floats to the top with out touching the bottom toss it.

Check the use by date.
If it gets close to that check by placing in a jug of water, if they stay on the bottom they're still OK.
If you have eggs without a date ie from your own hens, they should keep for a couple of weeks.

Being single I have had them for over a month with no problem. What you can do is to shell all the eggs, add a little salt, and freeze them in ice cube trays. When frozen transfer them to a plastic bag. They will keep for months.

If you intend to use several for instance if you are going to cook with them. Break each one separately into a cup before adding to the mixture. That way if one is bad, you can throw it away without ruining the whole mixture.

They have an expiration date on them just like Milk does. Check it or you'll get salmonella.
