Squeeky Brakes?

Either your squeaker is hitting the rotor, which means its time to change the brakes, or you have a peice of metal stuck in the pad which will wear out with time.

My advice: Take off the tire on the location of the squeak and check to see if the squeaker is touching the rotor.

sounds like your rotors are glazed. Some times glazed rotors will cause brake to squeek then stop after the rotor get hot. If this is the case, It's nothing to worry about, your brakes won't fail on you. But If I were you, I'd have them checked just for peace of mind. You could also be having abnormal pad wear on the front and getting them checked could save you from having to have them replace prematurely. Hope this helps you!

It may not be your brakes that are squeeling, especially if it's just when you start the engine. It sounds more like it may be your fan belt. A high pitched squeeling that comes and goes is usually an idication of need for a replacment fan belt. Check your local Auto Zone. You can take your car there just to the parking lot, and one of the guys (for free!) will come out and take a listen. They may be able to guide you in the right direction as far as what could be wrong, or needs to be done. Good luck!

I agree with yes-its-m but wish to elabortate-most brake pads are made with bits of metal to maximize there performance. Ford in particular has done this for years. As a consequence they "squeal and grind" for a bit until they acclimate to the task at hand. Pay close attention to timed/mileage recommendations for pad replacement/inspection for your vehicle.If you do'nt have a clue - have them inspected NOW! Better safe than sorry.

If you park out side it could be rust forming on the calipers over night. If not then it could be that when they are cold the pads need to warm up to be seated.

get yourself a can of brake clean and spray them.sounds like its dust on your brakes.

you are not an idiot, knowing that lives depend on good brakes and the fact yours are "talking to you" do you really want us to believe you don't know what to do??? ok then I'll help you out.
