What's the difference between an ipod and an mp3 player?

I know I'm really showing my age here, but I don't care. I just want to know what's what. And, if you were an 18-year-old girl, what is the minimum amount of songs you would want it to hold for it to be any "good" for you? Last-minute Christmas shopping. Thanks for the help.

There is no difference. The iPod is just the most popular brand of MP3 player. There are dozens more. I personaly got a 15 GB Dell DJ just becuse they were cheeper than Apple. I would not get anything smaller than a 4GB player. That is a respectable size and it will hold roughly 1000 songs.

The only real difference is "I-Tunes". I-Tunes are songs that can be bought ($.99 each) from Apple and played on the I-Pod. However these same songs can be purchased from other websites to play on MP3 players. Both I-Pods and other MP3 players can be loaded with music through your computer, ie transfer your current CD's to the computer then load them on to your new player. Software generally comes with players to do this.

Well my dad works at an Apple shop and he told me that the maximum you could put on an Ipod shuffle is 150. Nano holds almost 400 songs. Regular Ipod holds 40 gigabytes. You can hold whole movies on this ipod and at most 200 songs(without movies) if you have movies on your ipod it depends on how many movies you have and how long they are. But if you have 1 movie you could probably get the same amount of 200 songs.

You need it to hold enough different songs so you will not get bored listening to the same songs over and over. How many songs that is depends on you.

an i-pod can store more than just music, they cans store photos, sound clips and anythign else they can fit, an MP3 player just plays music!

nothing...It's easier to transfer music to your IPod than any other mp3 players.
