Why do some people wish to remain ignorant?

because it's easier, and the ignorant don't have to push themselves

On the other hand, we're all ignorant about many things. Most of the time it's not possible to become fully informed. I guess we have to pick what we think we should become more knowledgable about. The first thing we have to learn about, I think, is our own hearts and minds. Understanding those will help us understand others.

Because the truth hurts!

Let's face it, there are alot of overgrown kids out there, and alot of people when they react to a situation, which challenges the prescibed norms of what they were thought, react like a kid who just discovered the truth (i.e. there is no such thing as santa clause). It thus becomes hurtfull, because you have been decieved, and after discovering the truth, people react differently, but the common feelings that come to mind are deciept, betrayal, lied to etc.

The difference is kids react to it physically (violently to some degree) and emotionally, and there are a wide variety of reactions, however, instead of saying okay, now let me go out there and do research, critique and study what the truth is or why I was lied to , most adults react like children, and thus the "ignorance is bliss," mentality.

It's a very complex subject area, and requires alot more study and reflection..anyhoo I hope this helped you.

I think it has to do with a person's mental make up. In nature the majority of any group of social animals are followers and a few are leaders. The ones who follow allow the leaders to make their decisions for them. As social groupings have evolved for the human race larger and larger groups have taken on the purpose of the leader. Those groups are corporations, governments and religious organizations. Each allows the followers to turn their decision making over to some higher power.

Because people like you take time ou of their day to try and figure this one out. As long as their is a market for a product/service there will always be a supplier. Just ignore them.

Well thats is the point ignorance is bliss, remember when you were told santa wasn't real...Somethings are better when you don't know...SOMEthings...

They avoid the truth because if they had to face it, they are afraid that it will mean a change in their life-style.

They prefer what satisfies ego and pleasure over the good and the true in themselves.

They would rather not know.

because sometime in life we find to difficult to live with the reality that is life people do this to defend themselves from what is actually happening so they are never hurt

No one is ever fully ignorant. they may not be fully conscious and not every one has sight.
