best soil type for shotcrete pool?
i'm designing a pool and am trying to define the best system for building it. i heard about shotcrete pools, but i don't know what soil type is advisable for this system.

Do you mean gunite? Similar to shotcrete but not quite the same.
Most soils are suitible for a gunite pool. In the more expansive types of soil you want to double up on the rebar, called double curtain. I've only seen one or two situations that a pool wouldn't work but they were unusual.

To elaborate on expansive soils, clayey soils are hydro dynamic. The expand and contract with moisture.
If you have a clay soil, you want to underlay with a sand over gravel compacting it as you go. Some recomend a vapor/moisture barrier as a base.
This is good prep for any type of hardscape to reduce cracking or heaving over time.
