I just blew out my RCA reciever, how can I fix it?

I had it connected to an iPod, on the carpet. My guess is that the fan couldn't cool the internal circuits while on the carpet, but I'd like to fix it. Any suggestions, or should I start looking for a new reciever?

Are there any fuses on the receiver you can check? Sometimes there is a removable box on the back of the receiver which contains fuses, or they may be simply clipped in place on the back panel. They kind of look like light bulbs. It is possible that a fuse blew in the unit due to excessive heat. If not then it is likely there is permanent damage to the unit which could not be repaired for any less money than just buying a new one. Check the fuses though, they are cheap and easily replaceable.
