Can International Court of Criminal Justice charge Bush for crime against humanity?

What a truly interesting question you propose. Yes the United States is a signatory to international treaties and precedent has been set for such trials.

President Bush can be charged with crimes against humanity, waging an illegal war in Iraq, and as the commander in chief he is no more insulated than the service men that have been charged with the rape and murder of a 14 year old girl in Iraq.

However documentation supporting any such charges would have to be presented to the world court in The Hague and evidence would have to strongly link him to ordering such acts.

The rules of international law clearly state what constitutes war crimes or crimes against humanity. If charged, all countries in the world who are signatories to the agreements would be required by international law to apprehend and deliver him to the court.

The laws of America do not apply or protect anyone from violations of a criminal act committed internationally. The rules apply for all and there is no discrimination for any citizen from any country.

What most people in America fail to realize, is that you are less than 2% of the worlds population and yet militarily you out spend the next 20 countries on defense by 50%. On a global stage America is seen as the single largest threat to world peace. Rightly or wrongly, that is how you are seen and perceived by the majority of the world. You do have friends in this world that will stand shoulder to shoulder with you; I include myself as one of them, so friends must always defend one another to protect what our brothers and sisters, and fore fathers paid so dear a price to preserve.

Bush is certainly guilty of a lot, and his actions have led to the death of hundreds of thousands. What about Cheney, who some say is the actual mastermind?

I woud be very interested to see if something will happen. The Dems don't want to impeach him because it will take too much attention away from the work that needs to be done to rectify some ofhis wrongdoings.

No. What Bush did came on the heels of 56 UN draft resolutions garnishing the threat of action. Bush finally took that action. Like it or not, approve of how he did it or not, there is a long papertrail giving him the authorization.....AND EVEN IF THERE WEREN"T....A nation is sovereign and has the right to engage in war if it needs to protect itself and does not need UN approval to retaliate. It does not have the right to commit or to incite genocide. Bush has never done that. Milosovich, Ahmadinajad, and pick a country in Africa HAVE done that. Big difference.

They can charge al they want but Bush is under no obligation to do anything except ignore them. Even as a card carrying liberal Democrat, I don't want any outside judicial group to screw with my government. It's ours, liberal and conservative, and we'll take care of ourselves, thank you.

What kind of sawed-off half pint liberal would try their own leader? Granted, he may not be the best of the best, but what kind of nation would we be if we didn't back up our leadership? People like you need to own up to your part in this country and start sounding off like you got a set instead of crying about what other people are doing. The only way to get anything accomplished is to take action, not whine about other's actions.

To hold people with no charge,no access to legal representation and no prospect of release unless Bush says so is wrong.
