Safe if you have a strong security, including an anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall.
Highly unsafe if you have a facile security.

NO! a million) it incredibly is crammed with undercover agent ware and spyware which will ultimately leave your computer ineffective. 2) it incredibly is filesharing - this skill that as you get carry of music and video clips - your computer is open for everyone on the different end. In different words it incredibly is like having all the doorways locked at your residence however the back door being huge open. that's what happens once you place contained in the appliance for Limewire.

Limewire itself is SAFE...but yes it is possible to download viruses, as it is on ANY file sharing program.
Limewire works great and is free so I say go for it, but you do want to be careful because some of the songs, etc are illegal...but uhh they only really go after you if you have like 1,000+ files and they also usually only look within networked systems...so you're probably gonna be A-ok. =)

I would say if your going to use any peer 2 peer programs you need to have yourself well protected and your security programs updated. I would suggest that you have and antivirus, firewall and spyware/adware detector and remover before you even attempt to install that program. You see there are many problems that you can run into on the internet if you don't have the proper security installed. The most important thing to remember is where you go and what you do on the internet is the cause of most security problems that people run into on the internet.

It isn't limewire that is bad for your computer, it is the programs you get off limewire. It is loaded with viruses. I would never go near that site again.

Don't, I can't tell you how many people's computers that lousy program has crashed. Get eMule Plus, it's free and doesn't come bundled with spyware and viruses like LimeWire (and others) does.

We've had it for a while and my wife downloads music. No problems so far. Be careful when searching for videos or movies. You will get porn along with whatever you search for.

I used to use it, but no more. It messed up my machine so bad, I had to reformat. I don't think I will ever use a p2p network again.
I know, some people swear by it or other p2p networks, but I have just to bad an experience with them to ever try them again.......
Source(s): My own bad experience.
